Living Over The Rainbow is a new musical based on a true story that made national headlines in 2008 when a young gay teenager, Lawrence King, was murdered by a fellow classmate at his high school in Oxnard, California. The world premiere of the new play Eight Tales of Pedro will be part of the unFringed Festival at the Secret Theatre. Written by Mark-Eugene Garcia (Standby, Facing East: A New Musical, The Holy Cows of Credence South Dakota), the production is directed by Rodrigo Ernesto Bolanos (Unmissed Connections, The Holy Cows...) and will begin on August 12th and run through the 29th at the Secret Theatre in Long Island City. The story is based on the Spanish tales of Pedro Urdemales and the Puerto Rican tales of Juan Bobo.

The Atlanta Musical Theatre Festival is proud to announce the selections for the Third Annual Atlanta Musical Theatre Festival (AMTF), which will be held August 6th, 7th, 13th & 14th, 2018 at Out Front Theatre. The AMTF will be four nights of original musical theatre performances by local artists, and written by authors from around the country. Performances will be open to the artistic community, the public, and the press. "Wild Women of Planet Wongo" (Wongo) extends its summer invasion at the Chopin Theater, 1543 W. Division through July 28. This immersive sci-fi musical comedy spoofs madcap 60s B movies while placing the audience into the middle of the experience. "Wild Women of Planet Wongo" was written by Ben Budick, Steve Mackes and Dave Ogrin and is directed by David Rigano. Clare Cook, founder of Basin Arts in Lafayette, has been selected to participate in the Hamilton Project Residency at Barn Arts Collective in Bass Harbor, Maine July 6-15. While in Maine, she will be researching and developing a project titled Surface, an excerpt of which will be performed by Basin Dance Collective at the 2018 Arts Summit on July 24 in Baton Rouge (https://www.artsbr.org/2018-arts-summit/). LAUNDRYFEST will make its world premiere at The Soap Box, 110 Saratoga Ave, Brooklyn NY 11233. The show will be comprised of site specific and site responsive pieces in an actual laundromat. The festival, produced by The Motor Company (Lillian Meredith, Artistic Director; Jessica Schmidt, Producing Director), will feature new short plays and musicals by Sean Pollock, Billy Recce, Ben Holbrook and Cherry Lou Sy. Directors include NJ Agwuna, David Kahawaii, Phoebe Padget, and Lillian Meredith. The festival is co-curated and co-produced by Sean Pollock. The performance schedule is Today, June 8th, Saturday June 9th, Today, June 15th, and Saturday June 16th at 9:00PM; Sunday June 10th and Sunday June 17th at 7:00PM. Admission is free of charge to the public.
