Meet June, a brilliant, bold, brassy, bad-ass opera singer, given to singing to her dead stuffed cat, reminiscing about her lurid love life, consuming vast amounts of vodka, and chastising her lousy ex-husband. Once famous and celebrated, June is down on her luck. She's lost her man, her looks, her career, her cat, and now she's on the verge of losing her marbles. Agoraphobic and unable to leave her apartment, she turns to her booze, her pills, her dead stuffed cat and her trusty vibrator Mr Buzzy for solace.

Thread makes its American debut at the 2016 New York International Fringe Festival following a successful run in Perth, Australia. This one-woman show was written for Australian actress Mischa Ipp by award-winning playwright Elena Zucker. From NYC to Palestine, Mimi's world collapses with the inadvertent like of a long-lost love's dissident Facebook status. Identities unravel, as do the boundaries between fact and fiction, Jew and Arab, time and space.
Amid the current fractured national landscape - where political and cultural tensions have many people deeply angered, saddened, and retreating to their own ideological camps - the grassroots reading and discussion series, Community Matters at People's Light aims to spark conversation about relevant issues in our community with a diverse array of perspectives and voices. Performed readings of new plays are the centerpiece of each evening, followed by a discussion with community partners, special guests, artists, and audiences. The fifth season of Community Matters features the reading and discussion of plays focused on the American work-force, mental illness, and the representation of race, gender, and sexuality in art.
Meshaun Labrone is a DC police officer who wrote this play as a direct response to the illegal and senseless killings of his brothers and sisters, the 2012 murder of Trayvon Martin as well as his time working as a corrections officer at a Florida maximum security prison.
The New York Musical Festival (NYMF), previously known as The New York Musical Theatre Festival, has announced that they have partnered with The ASCAP Foundation, The Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment (MOME), and SDC Foundation to curate three panel conversations with industry professionals, aimed at providing more insight into the musical development process.
