On Monday night, March 31, at the 38th annual Carbonell Awards, when the statuettes were all handed out, the musical numbers had concluded and the audience had left the Broward Center for the Performing Arts to attend the after-party, two things could not be denied: South Florida is home to a rich, vibrant theatrical community packed with talent; and it was a good night to be Island City Stage.

As the South Florida theatre community prepares for the 38th annual Carbonell Awards, details of the March 31 ceremony, including the honorees of the prestigious George Abbott Award and Ruth Foreman Award, have been announced.

In a land not so far, far away, ShowKids Invitational Theatre (SKIT) brings SHREK THE MUSICAL from the swamp to the stage. Shrek is being presented on Saturday, April 26, at 7:30pm; Sunday, April 27, at 2:00pm; Friday, May 2, at 7:30pm; Saturday, May 3, at 2:00pm and 7:30pm; and Sunday, May 4, at 2:00pm.
