Protesters vs the Law in Native Voices at Autry's Free Reading - STAND OFF AT HWY #37 on 9/26

Native Voices at the Autry continues its vital role as the country's only equity theatre company dedicated exclusively to developing the work of Native American playwrights with a free staged reading of STAND-OFF AT HWY #37, a new play by Vickie Ramirez (Tuscarora*) on Thursday, September 26, 2013, 7:30 pm, at the Wells Fargo Theater at the Autry National Center in Griffith Park. The reading, which is followed by an audience 'Talk-Back' with Ramirez and the director, Jon Lawrence Rivera, is part of Native Voices' signature FIRST LOOK SERIES: Plays in Proces.

Native Earth Artistic Director Tara Beagan to Leave Position Feb 2014

In February of 2011, Tara Beagan (Ntlaka'pamux) stepped in to serve her community as Artistic Director of Native Earth Performing Arts (NEPA). After three years of artistic and organizational renewal, Tara will depart from her position in February 2014.

RAPTURE, BLISTER, BURN, HAM FOR THE HOLIDAYS and More Set for ACT Theatre's 2013 Season

ACT - A Contemporary Theatre announces a jam packed summer and fall with shows that cover a broad range of theatre. Finishing out the Mainstage season with three powerhouse Seattle Premieres, ACT presents Gina Gionfriddo's Pulitzer Prize finalist Rapture, Blister, Burn; followed by Will Eno's Middletown; and closing with Sir Alan Ayckbourn's American Premiere of Sugar Daddies - where the theatre legend himself will travel to Seattle to direct. In our Central Heating Lab, where ACT partners with other groups to produce new and exciting alternative theatre, AZEOTROPE returns with a double-header performed in repertory, and Das Fallopia makes their ACT debut with Ham for the Holidays. Fans of new works who love to delve into the developmental process will have plenty to see with ACT's New Play Award, The Construction Zone, and Icicle Creek Theater Festival.

The South Florida Theatre League Invites Theatres & Patrons to Get in Bed With the Arts

The South Florida Theatre League is building a bed! Yes, a bed. Its cover will be a map listing all South Florida theatres; its bed skirt will contain the logos of the League's member theatres; its head board will read Get in Bed with the Arts; and its footboard will feature the South Florida Theatre League logo and website address.

LOVE LETTERS Features Two Casts at Street Theatre, 2/1 & 2

Just in time for Valentine's Day, Street Theatre Company opens its 2013 season with two special performances of Love Letters. Love Letters by A. R. Gurney was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize for Drama. The play is a unique and imaginative theatre piece that is comprised of letters exchanged over a lifetime between two people who grew up together, went their separate ways, but continued to share confidences. Evocative, touching, frequently funny, as the actors read the letters aloud, they chronicle over nearly 50 years of hopes and ambitions, dreams and disappointments, victories and defeats that have passed between them throughout their separated lives.

INTAR Announces The Cast For LUCY LOVES ME

INTAR (Lou Moreno, Artistic Director/John McCormack, Executive Director) today announced the cast for the first of the two plays for its Winter/Spring 2013 season: Lucy Loves Me, written by Migdalia Cruz, directed by Lou Moreno, will star Annie Henk, Bertha Leal, and Gerardo Rodriguez.
