Winners of Samuel French's 40th Annual Off Off Broadway Short Play Festival Announced!

Samuel French has announced the winners of the 2015 Samuel French Off Off Broadway Short Play Festival, the nation's leading short play competition. The six winning plays were presented in a Showcase on Sunday, August 9th at the conclusion of the week-long festival at the East 13th Street Theater (Classic Stage Company). These plays will be published, and available for licensing by Samuel French in the 40th Annual edition of its Off Off Broadway Plays collection:

Television writer, Sinead Daly (current associate producer and writer, The Get Down (Netflix, Baz Luhrmann) and CBS' Blue Bloods) is also a celebrated playwright. Her moving and imaginative work, PAINTING HIS WINGS makes its New York theatre debut as part of the 2015 New York International Fringe Festival. The play is produced by Making It Happen Productions and is directed by Heather Lanza, the play's original director from its premiere at the 2013 Berkshire Fringe.
LUCKY CHICK to Premiere at FringeNYC This August

Lucky Chick has been selected to be part of the 2015 New York International Fringe Festival (FringeNYC). Written by and starring Felicity Seidel, the solo show is a comedic story of how a young girl got swept up into a crazy drug and sex-fueled world alongside her older boyfriend, Bob Weir of The Grateful Dead.

Abingdon Theatre Company launches its 2015-2016 Season of new plays beginning this fall with the world premiere of CUT THROAT by JB Reich. The dynamic downtown theater company Naked Angels, under the leadership of new Artistic Director Liz Carlson, is pleased to announce a one-week extension on the limited Off-Broadway engagement of the new folk concert play SeaWife, Originally scheduled to close on Sunday July, 19, the play - co-created by Seth Moore (The Man With America Skin) and indie-folk rock sextet The Lobbyists, with direction by Carlson - will now run through Sunday, July 26 at South Street Seaport Museum's Melville Gallery (213 Water Street) in New York's historic South Street Seaport district.

For the first time in two decades, The Kitchen will present a new edition of the acclaimed performance series And That's How the Rent Gets Paid, written by downtown legends Jeff Weiss and Richard C. Martinez. For three nights only (tonight, July 14, through July 16), Weiss and Martinez's thrilling serial drama, which follows a charming serial killer through the queer underbelly of New York City, will be brought to life by director and producer Brooke O'Harra with Kate Valk and Nicky Paraiso. The three-day marathon performance features an eclectic group of 50 performers including David Cale, Jennifer Miller, Keith McDermott, Becca Blackwell, Jess Barbagallo, Moe Angelos and Mark Bennett, among others. Weiss will appear in the production, in various cameo performances, throughout the three-day run.
