Comedy Central Roast of Bruce Willis and Jeff Ross Presents: Roast Battle Post Major Ratings and Viewership Increases

The Comedy Central Roast of Bruce Willis saw major ratings and viewership increases compared to the Comedy Central Roast of Rob Lowe in 2016, up 17% in total viewers and 21% among Adults 18-49 in first-day gross tallies. The Roast of Bruce Willisnabbed 3.2 million viewers for the evening across simulcasts and re-air, earned a 2.1 combined A18-49 rating, and was the #1 most social ad-supported cable entertainment program for the day. On Comedy Central alone, the Roast of Bruce Willis posted a 1.2 A18-49 rating, up +23% versus the Roast of Rob Lowe on Labor Day 2016. Erika Phoebus' RUSALKA Premieres At The 10th Annual Planet Connections Theatre Festivity

The audience is invited to eavesdrop on the vibrant and perilous world of RUSALKA. Blending history with the atmosphere of an underground speakeasy, this world is brought to life by the bar's live house band, playing an eclectic selection of music from the WWII era as well as stylized interpretations of modern music meant to invoke the fire & frenzy of a world at war. The story revolves around two young sisters infiltrate an underground bar catering to jazz-loving Nazis who find an escape in the music they are meant to forbid. One SS Lieutenant in particular welcomes a sweet romance, though the sisters have been tasked to seduce him to a darker fate. The nearby woods await revenge as music, dancing, boozing and secrets weave together to unlock this wild tale of youthful resistance.

New York Latino Film Festival Kicks Off 15th Edition 8/22

The New York Latino Film Festival (NYLFF), the nation's largest and most diverse Latino film festival, and a touchstone of the nation's thriving multicultural cinematic movement, kicks off its 15th edition on Wednesday, August 22nd with the New York premiere of the film “Ruben Blades Is Not My Name.” Directed by critically acclaimed director, Abner Benaim, the film stars Ruben Blades, Sting, Paul Simon, Residente, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Larry Harlow, Andy Montañez, Ismael Miranda, Junot Diaz, Luba Mason, among others. The star-studded documentary offers an intimate portrait of Ruben Blades, revealing the artist's struggle to come to terms with his legacy and influence in elevating Salsa music to an international scale.

Showtime Orders Drama Pilot QUEEN FUR

SHOWTIME has announced the pilot order for the hour-long drama series QUEEN FUR, created, written and executive produced by Eileen Myers (MASTERS OF SEX) and starring Lily Mae Harrington (Some Freaks). Sian Heder (Orange Is the New Black) will direct the pilot. Deb Spera (Army Wives) will also serve as an executive producer. The announcement was made today by Gary Levine, President of Programming, Showtime Networks Inc.

Sundance Now to Expand Its Offerings with the Launch of Original Scripted Podcast EXETER Starring Jeanne Tripplehorn and Ray McKinnon

Sundance Now, AMC Networks' direct-to-consumer SVOD service curated with high quality dramas and crime thrillers, announced today from the Television Critics Association (TCA) Press Tour that it is expanding its content offerings to include podcasts, beginning with its first-ever scripted podcast, 'Exeter.' Created by indie writer/director Ronnie Gunter (Lighter) and starring Jeanne Tripplehorn ('Big Love,' 'Grey Gardens') and Ray McKinnon ('Rectify,' 'Sons of Anarchy,' 'Deadwood'), 'Exeter' will premiere on the service in September 2018.

AMC Green Lights First Multi-Platform Series DISPATCHES FROM ELSEWHERE by Jason Segel

AMC announced today that it has green-lit a new original anthology series, 'Dispatches From Elsewhere,' created by and starring Jason Segel. Segel will executive produce with Scott Rudin, Eli Bush and Garrett Basch. The hour-long anthology series will include viewer engagement elements across multiple media platforms.

BWW Review: LONDON TAP DANCE INTENSIVE GALA PERFORMANCE, The London Cabaret Club

The London Tap Dance Intensive is the UK's top tap festival, and took place from Friday to Sunday last week. Over the course of three days a variety of workshops were offered at three different studios; led by talented teachers from across the tap spectrum, they covered everything from rhythm choreography, partner work, call & response, and the crossover between tap and Irish dancing. The festival culminated in a gala performance last night, hosted by Adam Garcia and Kane D. Ricca - the ultimate showcase for the genre, with some mind-blowing routines performed by a selection of top dancers.

20th Century Fox Television's FOX Directors Lab Launches Third Edition

Hallmark Movies Now Developing First Original Series, WHEN HOPE CALLS (W.T.), Spin-Off Of Beloved Series WHEN CALLS THE HEART

Crown Media Family Networks' first-ever streaming series, 'When Hope Calls' (wt), is in development to premiere in 2019 on the company's SVOD subscription service, Hallmark Movies Now. The series is spawned from Hallmark Channel's longest running, most-watched primetime series to date, 'When Calls the Heart,' currently entering its sixth season on the network. The announcement was made today as part of Crown Media Family Networks' bi-annual Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour.
