Full casting is announced for William Shakespeare’s As You Like It, directed by Josie Rourke, with a musical score by Michael Bruce, @sohoplace, the first new build West End theatre to open in 50 years.

With Zodwa Nyoni's The Darkest Part of the Night currently running at Kiln Theatre, Artistic Director Indhu Rubasingham has announced the full company for her major revival of Moira Buffini's critically acclaimed Handbagged.

Acclaimed stage and screen actor Richard Coyle will return to the West End to play the iconic role of Atticus Finch in the critically acclaimed production of Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird – a new play by Aaron Sorkin, directed by Bartlett Sher. 

Joining the previously announced David Harbour and Bill Pullman are Hanako Footman, Akiya Henry, Sinead Matthews, Charlie Oscar and Stephen Wight. Directed by Moritz von Stuelpnagel, the production opens on 26 June at the Ambassadors Theatre, with previews from 15 June, and runs until 4 September.

Film at Lincoln Center announces Human Conditions: The Films of Mike Leigh, a retrospective of the widely lauded director’s career, running from May 27-June 8. For over half a century, Mike Leigh has directed films suffused with emotion and the realities of working-class struggle. From his debut feature, Bleak Moments (1971); to his ’70s television work for the BBC; to the breakout mid-career successes of Life Is Sweet (1990), Naked (1993), and Secrets and Lies (1996); through the historical films that have marked his output more recently, like Mr. Turner (2014) and Peterloo (2018), a Mike Leigh film always has an unmistakable energy and feeling for the triumphs and tragedies of everyday life.

Shakespeare's Globe has announced the cast and company for King Lear opening 10 June - 24 July.

This brand new production by Pravesh Kumar with Goldy Notay as Beverley casts the attitudes to class and social standing of Mike Leigh's classic in a whole new light.

The Los Angeles Philharmonic will present Reel Change: The New Era of Film Music, a series of three concerts curated by Kris Bowers (Green Book, Bridgerton), Nicholas Britell (Moonlight, Succession) and Hildur Guðnadóttir (Joker, Chernobyl, Battlefield 2042.

Jermyn Street Theatre has today announced casting for its marathon performance of Homer’s The Odyssey, translated by Emily Wilson. James Purefoy (Rome, Fisherman’s Friends, Churchill) stars as Odysseus, the Greek hero whose ten-year journey home from Troy is the heart of Homer’s epic poem.

Following the run of September in the Rain, Michael Grandage will direct Ian McDiarmid in Julian Barnes' The Lemon Table from 14 to 23 October, ahead of a UK tour.

On March 14, when I was sitting at Des Moines Playhouse watching their production of 'Singin' in the Rain,' I had no idea what was about to come. Iowa had just had its first case of Covid19 just a few short weeks prior. That evening an email came out that the production was being postponed. What came next was a nightmare, fifteen months without seeing a live show in a theatre. The Playhouse has been able to find a way to make live performances work this last year, but I needed to be comfortable going to the theatre.

Premium cable network EPIX® announced today that Pennyworth, its critically acclaimed DC drama from Warner Horizon Scripted Television, has started production on season two.  Season two introduces new series regulars James Purefoy (The Following, Sex Education, Altered Carbon), Edward Hogg (Taboo, Harlots, White Lightning), Jessye Romeo (Curfew, In the Long Run), Ramon Tikaram (Brassic, The Victim) and Harriet Slater (Faunutland and the Lost Magic).  The 10-episode sophomore season began production in the UK in January 2020 – filming once again at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden – with an eye towards a summer 2020 premiere on EPIX.

Set against the backdrop of an evolving Britain of the 70s, this fresh production shows the classic Mike Leigh satire in a new light. Performed in traverse with intimate on-stage seating offering audience the chance to join Beverly and Laurence's soireé, bringing them closer to the experience.

The Boulevard Theatre today announces casting for the first London revival of The Effect, written by award-winning writer Lucy Prebble (A Very Expensive Poison, ENRON, The Sugar Syndrome, Succession and Secret Diary of a Call Girl) and directed by Anthony Neilson (The Tell-Tale Heart, The Prudes and Unreachable). Eric Kofi Abrefa plays Tristan Frey, Christine Entwisle will play Lorna James, Tim McMullan will play Toby Sealey and Kate O'Flynn will play Connie Hall.

Artistic Director Brigid Larmour today announces programming to complete Watford Palace Theatre's season for September 2019 - June 2020, following the world première of Mushy: Lyrically Speaking earlier this month.
