BWW Review: THE DIARY OF ANNE FRANK at Center Repertory Company beautifully tels the enduring tale of hope and humanity in the face of horrific inhumanity

Vilna, a new play by Ira Fuchs directed by Joseph Discher, will begin its limited Off-Broadway World Premiere engagement at the Theatre at St. Clement's (423 West 46th Street, between Ninth & Tenth Avenues) on Monday March 11th. Opening Night is set for Wednesday March 20th (7pm). This limited Off-Broadway engagement continues through Sunday April 14th only.

Picture this: Eight people living in a secret annex over a functioning business, spending their days in silence for fear of losing their lives.  Now imagine that being your life for 2 whole years. That was the reality for the Frank family, the Van Daan family, and a Mr. Dussel, who joined them in their hiding place a few months into their stay.

David Ira Goldstein, recently retired from his position as Arizona Theatre Company's artistic director, returns to put his distinctive signature on the play. The result is a sensitively drawn, powerfully commanding, and deeply unsettling portrait of a family in waiting for the inevitable, featuring a remarkable performance by Anna Lentz.

The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey opens their 2018 season with Tartuffe by Moliere, translated by Richard Wilber, and directed by the theatre's Artistic Director, Bonnie J. Monte. show will be on stage at the F.M Kirby Shakespeare Theatre from May 16 through June 3. Broadwayworld.com had the pleasure of interviewing Patrick Toon who plays Orgon in Tartuffe.

The Belmont Theatre will produce the play THE DIARY OF ANNE FRANK in the theatre's Bon-Ton Studio April 13-15 & 19-22. The play is by Frances Goodrich & Albert Hackett, newly adapted by Wendy Kesselman.

The Holocaust was a horrific series of experiences. As the years go by, and the survivors of the atrocities die off, leaving no one to attest to the actual pain and suffering, those who want to make sure that such experiences do not repeat themselves turn to tangible objects and written accounts.

'Everyone has inside of him a piece of good news. The good news is that you don't know how great you can be! How much you can love! What you can accomplish! And what your potential is!' These inspiring words were written by a young Anne Frank in the diary that would go on to become the most famous diary in the world. Her optimism, her spirit, and her joy for life, even in the harshest of situations, has inspired so many since they were captured on the page. And, though young Anne did not live to see her own potential become reality, she left behind a first-person account that tells her story and the intricacies of the daily existence of eight people hidden away in Amsterdam during the height of World War II. Bringing those stories to life on the stage is what Playhouse on Park in West Hartford has done in their latest production of Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett's THE DIARY OF ANNE FRANK which has been adapted by Wendy Kesselman to include newly discovered writings and survivor accounts of life during Nazi rule.
