Vivian Reed Sings Lena Horne In May And Introduces New Show In June

VIVIAN REED will debut her new show "Little Bit of Soul, Little Bit of Pop" at The Green Room 42 on Saturday, June 15 at 7:00 PM. Reed is back to display her rare vocal ability to powerfully deliver songs in a variety of genres. The evening is packed with her unique arrangements of well-known music from an eclectic group of songwriters, such as Lionel Richie, Steve Winwood, Brenda Russell, Alan Jay Lerner, and Stevie Wonder. Her energy and passion are accompanied by conductor James Davis on piano, leading an all-star quintet.

Alonzo King To Receive Honorary Doctorate At Juilliard Commencement Ceremony

Alonzo King LINES Ballet is pleased to announce that choreographer Alonzo King will receive an honorary doctorate from Juilliard during the school's 114th commencement ceremony, which takes place Friday, May 24, 2019, at 11am in Alice Tully Hall in New York City and will be live-streamed at juilliard.edu/live. Actress Rita Moreno and composer Kaija Saariaho will receive honorary doctorates as well.

Joe Bonamassa Makes History Selling Out Two Music Festivals At Sea In One Year

Coming off a 5th sold-out Caribbean sailing ofKeeping the Blues Alive at Sea this past February, Joe Bonamassa makes history with Sixthman, the industry leader in festivals at sea, by selling out another cruise in the same year in The Mediterranean. A waiting list is active for fans that would like to sign up should availability open for the five day inaugural voyage sailing August 16-21, 2019 from Barcelona, Spain, to Monte Carlo, Monaco, and Malletta, Malta. The Mediterranean edition of Keeping the Blues Alive at Sea will feature performances by Peter Frampton, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Robert Randolph & The Family Band, and dozens more Blues artists.

The closing of the Monte-Carlo Opera season of 2018-2019 could not have ended better than with the new production of Verdi's Otello. And Monaco knew it: under the keen direction of Daniele Callegari and based on the play by Shakespeare, the opera was completely sold-out.

Damon Gupton Guest-Hosts NPR's FROM THE TOP

Actor/Conductor Damon Gupton guest hosts an upcoming episode of the hit NPR weekly music program From the Top, airing nationally during the week of May 6 on participating stations and by podcast. The episode, which features America's best young classical musicians, was taped before a live audience at Interlochen Center for the Arts in March 2019. On the broadcast, Mr. Gupton interviews the young musicians, all students at the Interlochen Arts Academy, and conducts a performance by the Interlochen Arts Academy Orchestra. He is joined by Co-Host/Pianist Michelle Cann and Interlochen Arts Academy OrchestraConductor Leslie Dunner. Pacific Symphony Ravel Presents The Magical One-Act Opera, THE CHILD & THE MAGIC SPELLS

Unleash your inner-child as Pacific Symphony offers another unique concert experience, with a double-bill of both Prokofiev's symphonic fairy tale "Peter & The Wolf" and Ravel's one-act opera "L'enfant et les sortileges." No stranger to producing elaborate and magical stagings, Robert Neu is once again the stage director, returning after his fantastic work on "The Magic Flute." (He will return next season to direct Verdi's "Otello"!) Longtime artistic partner Pacific Chorale, led by Artistic Director Robert Istad, will join the Symphony on stage again, as well as the CSUF Singers and Southern California Children's Chorus. Returning mezzo-soprano Tess Altiveros plays the lead role, "The Child," in Ravel's "L'enfant."

Yannick Nezet-Seguin Conducts Dialogues Des Carmelites To Conclude His First Season As Met Music Director

The Metropolitan Opera's Jeanette Lerman-Neubauer Music Director, Yannick N zet-S guin, concludes his first season in the position with three performances of Dialogues des Carm lites. Poulenc's opera about an order of nuns whose faith is tested during the height of the French Revolution, returns to the Met on May 3, 2019. Isabel Leonard and Adrianne Pieczonka sing the leading roles of Blanche de la Force and the new Prioress, Madame Lidoine. Karita Mattila, making her role debut, portrays the ailing first prioress, Madame de Croissy. The cast also includes Karen Cargill as Mother Marie, Erin Morley in the role of Sister Constance, David Portillo as Blanche's brother the Chevalier de la Force, and Jean-Fran ois Lapointe in his Met debut as the Marquis de la Force. The opera is presented in John Dexter's acclaimed 1977 Met production.

Mondavi Center Announces 2019-20 Season

The Robert and Margrit Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts, UC Davis announces its 18th season of performing arts, filled with the leading artists in music, dance and theater alongside an insightful group of speakers. The season begins on Sunday, September 29, with a family-friendly performance from gospel true-believers Trey McLaughlin & The Sounds of Zamar and concludes June 7, 2020 with the Alexander String Quartet finishing a two-year cycle of the complete Shostakovich string quartets.

Full Cast And Creative Team Announced For JUBILEE At Arena Stage

Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater announces the full company for the world premiere of Tazewell Thompson's inspirational a cappella music infused play, Jubilee. Inspired by the world-renowned Fisk Jubilee Singers, this uplifting new work chronicles the bold African American ensemble as they travel the world, captivating kings, queens and audiences with hymns and spiritual songs supported by their rich voices. Written and directed by Thompson with vocal arrangements and music direction by Dianne Adams McDowell, Jubilee runs April 26 - June 2, 2019 in the Kreeger Theater.
