With guest conductor Gabor Takacs-Nagy at the helm and guest soloists Pablo Ferrandez (violoncello), and Jean-Efflam Bavouzet (piano) for the first performance in the morning, and Andreas Ottensamer (clarinet) in the afternoon, the particularly windy day filled with Haydn and Mozart simply felt like a gift.

On Tuesday, October 30 at 8:00 p.m., violinist Maxim Vengerov returns to Carnegie Hall for his first recital appearance in more than a decade. Mr. Vengerov is joined by pianist Roustem Saïtkoulov for a recital of violin sonatas and showpieces. The program includes Brahms's Violin Sonata No. 3 in D Minor, Enescu's Violin Sonata No. 2 in F Minor, Ravel's Violin Sonata, Ernst's The Last Rose of Summer, and Paganini's I palpiti (after Rossini's 'Di tanti palpiti' from Tancredi; arr. Fritz Kreisler).

One of the nation's most adventurous opera companies, Odyssey Opera, continues its sixth season with the Boston premiere of the rarely performed 1858 opera Le medecin malgre lui (The Doctor in Spite of Himself). On the occasion of the bicentenary of Charles Gounod's birth (1818-1893), Odyssey Opera offers a chance to become better acquainted with one of the largest French composers of the second half of the 19th Century. Based on a play by the great French satirical playwright Moliere, Gounod's Le medecin malgre lui is a three-act comic opera set to a libretto by Jules Barbier and Michel Carre. Odyssey Opera will feature baritone Stephen Salters (Sganarelle), mezzo-soprano Tascha Anderson (Jacqueline), the Boston debut of tenor Piotr Buszewski (Leandre), and a full orchestra and chorus conducted by Gil Rose, with stage direction by Daniel Pelzig (Santa Fe Opera, Met Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago). The fully-staged production will be sung in French with English subtitles, with never heard recitatives added by Erik Satie.

Emmy-Award winning actor Jacob Young launches a new talk show on his You Tube Channel this Monday October 1 live at 10:00 PM (Eastern Time), 7:00 PM (Pacific). 'Daytime After Dark,' hosted by Young will feature segments on the pop culture topics of the week with live feedback and questions from fans. Jacob will be in his studio in Utah with remote interviews featuring guests from the world of TV, film, and Broadway.
