The Alley Theatre and interim artistic director James Black announce the cast and crew of the new Sherlock Holmes adventure Holmes and Watson byJeffrey Hatcher and directed by Mark Shanahan. Mitch Albom's book Tuesday's With Morrie told of the renewal of a friendship with one of his college professors in the months before the old man dies from ALS. It was a bestseller and popular television movie, and it remains an appealing inspirational story. The stage adaptation, by Albom and Jeffrey Hatcher, keeps the schmaltz at bay for most of its length with humor grounded by J.R. Stuart's performance in the title role.

Playwrights Horizons presents THE TREASURER, the world premiere of a new play by Max Posner (Judy) and directed by three-time Lortel Award winner David Cromer (The Band's Visit, Our Town, Adding Machine). Commissioned by Playwrights Horizons, the play will be the second production of the theater company's 2017/2018 Season.

Mike Hodge, an accomplished actor, stalwart unionist and New York president of SAG-AFTRA, passed away on September 9th. He was 70. Hodge had a long career as a Broadway, TV, film and commercial actor. His Broadway credits included SEARCH AND DESTROY, A FEW GOOD MEN and FENCES.
