A new entertainment by Michael Wynne, The Star, will mark Liverpool Playhouse's 150th anniversary this Christmas in honour of its origins as a Music Hall venue. Directed by Philip Wilson, the production will feature Michael Starke. At the Everyman Associate Director Nick Bagnall's effervescent take on The Two Gentlemen of Verona sets the action in a colourful and musical 1960s. Desmond Barrit will appear alongside Maggie Steed as Mrs Malaprop in Sheridan's elegant comedy of manners The Rivals at the Playhouse.

Theater Breaking Through Barriers (TBTB) launches its 2015 season with a revival of Agatha Christie's rarely seen 1958 thriller THE UNEXPECTED GUEST, currently in preview prior to opening Sunday, April 19 at Theatre Row's Clurman Theatre (410 West 42nd Street) in Manhattan. Victoria Rauch-Lichterman directs the production for TBTB, the critically acclaimed theatre company dedicated to advancing artists with disabilities and changing the image of people with disabilities from dependence to independence. Sister Act is a musical production based on the hugely popular 1992 film starring Whoopi Goldberg, who is also a producer on the show. Having had a massively successful run in the West End, regional audiences have been treated to this production for the past year or so now and Birmingham Hippodrome marks it's final venue on this outing.
