Food Network & Cooking Channel NYC Wine & Food Festival Celebrates 10 Years This Fall

The Food Network & Cooking Channel New York City Wine & Food Festival presented by Coca-Cola (NYCWFF) returns for its 10th anniversary October 12 - 15, 2017. More than 70 events will take place at locations across New York, with 100% of the net proceeds benefiting the hunger-relief organizations Food Bank For New York City and No Kid Hungry.

The Music Center on Location Brings Dance to Culver City

The Music Center On Location announced the U.S. premiere of Akram Khan's Until the Lions, the retelling of an excerpt from the epic Sanskrit poem the Mahabarata through a synthesis of kathak -- the Indian classical dance form -- and contemporary dance. Part of the 15th season of Glorya Kaufman Presents Dance at The Music Center (Dance at The Music Center), Until the Lions will be performed by the Akram Khan Company at The Culver Studios in Culver City, CA from October 18 21, 2017.

BALLETNOW Will Showcase 24 Dance Superstars in Iconic and Contemporary Dance Favorites

As The Music Center wraps up its 14th season of Glorya Kaufman Presents Dance at The Music Center, Angelenos have the opportunity to see some of the world's finest dancers perform a mix of iconic ballets and new pieces in The Music Center's BalletNOW.  Following the popularity of the first BalletNOW in 2015, The Music Center commissioned this highly innovative three-performance program, featuring international ballet sensation and New York City Ballet Principal Tiler Peck as curator.  Peck created a mixed repertory to highlight the versatility and athleticism of today's ballet dancers including pieces that pair classical dancers with their contemporaries in other dance genres.

The Food Network & Cooking Channel New York City Wine & Food Festival presented by Coca-Cola (NYCWFF) returns for its 10 th anniversary October 12 15, 2017. Including returning fan-favorites and an array of new soires, more than 70 events will take place at locations across New York, with 100% of the net proceeds benefiting the hunger-relief organizations Food Bank For New York City and No Kid Hungry . To date, NYCWFF has raised more than $10 million to support the fight to end hunger.

The Music Center Announces Program for 2017/2018 Dance Season

Los Angeles audiences will discover a new perspective on many timeless classics interpreted through a contemporary lens as they journey through The Music Center's dance season and uncover themes of conflict between female strength and societal expectations.  The 2017/2018 Glorya Kaufman Presents Dance at The Music Center (Dance at The Music Center) season is replete with powerful characters, riveting storylines, modern choreography and theatrics that take the traditional narrative ballet to a new level.  Audiences are invited to venture into the world of dance and experience realms of expression beyond expectation.  The coming season opens with the U.S. premiere of Matthew Bourne's The Red Shoes (September 15-October 1, 2017), a beloved fairytale and Hollywood classic where life imitates art, presented by Dance at The Music Center and Center Theatre Group. 

BWW Interview: Theatre Life with Michael Mayes

Today's subject Michael Mayes is living his theatre life playing a murderer on death row in the Washington National Opera production of Dead Man Walking. Michael has performed the role of Joseph De Rocher in multiple productions –including one at Central City Opera in Denver, Colorado – and now local arts aficionados can see him play it at the Kennedy Center's Opera House through March 11th.

Jessica Lang To Perform at The Music Center, 2/17-19

The Music Center continues its 2016-2017 season of Glorya Kaufman Presents Dance at The Music Center with performances by Jessica Lang Dance (February 17-19, 2017) at The Music Center's Ahmanson Theatre, including the West Coast premiere of Tesseracts of Time, created in collaboration with world renowned architect Steven Holl. The three-day engagement also includes Thousand Yard Stare, a new work created by choreographer Jessica Lang in 2015, audience favorite, Droplet, and Lang's iconic gem, The Calling. The program highlights Lang's keen ability to create emotionally accessible work using modern themes. From incorporating architecture, shapes and patterns into her work, to developing pieces based on veterans' battle experiences, Lang offers a fresh perspective on contemporary dance for the 21st century.

The San Diego Jewish Film Festival presented by the San Diego Center for Jewish Culture at the Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center, JACOBS FAMILY CAMPUS, will launch the 27th season Underwriter kickoff party and the San Diego premiere screening of IN SEARCH OF ISRAELI CUISINE directed by Roger Sherman on Sunday, August 21, 2016 at 5pm at the David & Dorothea Garfield Theatre.
