Charles Mee to Be Honored By Cherry Lane Theatre And New York City Council Speaker Corey Johnson, 6/11

Legendary playwright, Charles Mee, is turning 80 years and will be celebrated by Cherry Lane Theatre at a benefit performance of FIRST LOVE followed by a blowout bash at Casa La Femme (140 Charles Street). Additionally New York City Council Speaker Corey Johnson will recognize Charles Mee with an official New York City Proclamation for his extraordinary and enduring contributions to the American theatre, on Monday, June 11, 2018 at The Cherry Lane Theatre beginning at 7pm.

Cherry Lane Theatre Presents FIRST LOVE By Charles Mee

Cherry Lane Theatre (Seri Lawrence, Janio Marrero, Co-Artistic Directors) is proud to announce that Academy Award nominee Michael O'Keefe and Angelina Fiordellisi will star in its upcoming Founder's Project presentation of Charles Mee's FIRST LOVE, directed by Kim Weild. Performances will begin on June 7, the production will open on June 14 and run through July 8 at Cherry Lane Theatre (38 Commerce Street). BWW Review: AS YOU LIKE IT - Excellent Shakespeare In An Idyllic Setting

William Shakespeare's AS YOU LIKE IT, by The Baron's Men and playing at The Curtain Theatre is an excellent production in a perfectly idyllic setting. Arguably Shakespeare's most complicated comedy, AS YOU LIKE IT, may not be as beloved as MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING or A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM but in the hands of first time director Michael Osborn, The Baron's Men have surpassed the norm to present a flawless and professional production.

The American Theatre Wing (Heather Hitchens, President) and The Village Voice (Peter Barbey, Owner) have announced the winners of the 61st Annual Obie Awards. Rajiv Joseph's Guards at the Taj, produced by the Atlantic Theater Company, received the Obie Award® for Best New American Play, which is accompanied by a $1,000 prize. Legendary actor/dancer/choreographer Carmen de Lavallade and renowned playwright A.R. Gurney each received a special Obie Award® for Lifetime Achievement. Obie and Screen Actors Guild® Award-winning actress Lea DeLaria returned as host of this year's ceremony, which was held at Webster Hall (125 East 11th Street).

Showtime to Air HOMELAND, THE AFFAIR Marathons this Weekend

Over Thanksgiving weekend, SHOWTIME will be airing full catch-up marathons of the current seasons of the Emmy and Golden Globe-winning series HOMELAND beginning on Saturday, November 29th at 3 p.m. ET/PT, and the critically-acclaimed new drama THE AFFAIR on Sunday, November 30th starting at 4 p.m. ET/PT. Viewers can also catch up on the current seasons via SHOWTIME ON DEMAND and SHOWTIME ANYTIME. New episodes of both hit series return on Sunday, December 7th starting at 9 p.m. ET/PT. The marathon event comes after the recently announced pick-ups of THE AFFAIR for a second season and of HOMELAND for a fifth season.
