THE FLICK by Annie Baker Comes to Third Rail in January
by BWW
News Desk
- Jan 20, 2017
Set in a run-down movie theater in central Massachusetts, home to one of the last 35 millimeter film projectors in the state, The Flick follows the hilarious and sometimes heartbreaking stories of Sam, Avery and Rose, three mismatched employees. As they sweep up popcorn, bitch about their bosses, and critique the films that play at their ill-attended cineplex, the trio's own funny and fraught dramas play out in the empty aisles. But unlike the films that flicker from the projection booth, these dramas have real-world consequences.

by Krista Garver
- Apr 5, 2016
In the middle of Samuel D. Hunter's THE FEW, Brian - a long-haul truck driver recently returned home after a four-year absence - slumps in a chair and says: 'I'm really terrible at being a person.' That statement perfectly encapsulates the struggle at the center of this play, which is about people trying to figure out how to be people and to perform the seemingly impossible task of connecting with themselves and with one another.
