American Lyric Theater has been selected by the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) to receive a $20,000 grant to support its Composer Librettist Development Program (CLDP), a full-time resident artist program for emerging opera composers and librettists. Artists are selected through an open application process to participate in the tuition-free program that provides professional training by renowned and respected artists including composer-librettist Mark Adamo, composer Anthony Davis, librettist Michael Korie, and dramaturg Cori Ellison.

The National Alliance for Musical Theatre (NAMT) announces 15 awards granted from their National Fund for New Musicals, a major funding program to support NAMT member not-for-profit theatres in their collaborations with writers to create, develop and produce new musicals. Now in its fourth year, the Fund will provide grants totaling $48,000 to 14 organizations across the country.
The Kleban Foundation today announced that the 22nd Annual Kleban Prize for the most promising musical theatre lyricist has gone to Marcy Heisler. The Daily Mail's Baz Bamigboye today reports that Gwyneth Paltrow has been offered a role in the musical version of FINDING NEVERLAND, which will play Leicester's Curve Theatre in September 2012. Paltrow would play 'Sylvia Llewelyn Davies', whose children inspired J.M. Barrie to write Peter Pan. Julian Overden is currently set to lead the production, which will be directed and choreographed by Rob Ashford.

The American Theatre Wing announced today that the recipients of the 2012 Jonathan Larson® Grant are Julianne Wick Davis (Composer) and Dan Collins (Book, Lyrics) for their work on Southern Comfort. The prestigious grant, totaling $10,000, will be presented on Tuesday, March 27 at a private event in New York City. The event will feature special performances from Southern Comfort.
