Playwrights Horizons Announces Updates to Benefit Auction

Playwrights Horizons has announced additional details for its 2012 special online Auction. Bidding for the auction is now underway at www.BiddingForGood/PlaywrightsHorizons. Online bidding continues through Monday, May 14 (with items staggered to close at 8PM and 9PM).

Proceeds from the Auction benefit the company’s six annual productions and programs, the development of new work, access to the arts for all and training the next generation of theater managers and artists.

A writer’s theater dedicated to the support and development of contemporary American Playwrights, composers and lyricists, it has presented the work of over 375 writers. The 2011/2012 Season has boasted productions of Itamar Moses’ Completeness, Kirsten Greenidge’s Milk Like Sugar, Jordan Harrison’s Maple and Vine, Leslye Headland’s Assistance, Dan LeFranc’s The Big Meal and the upcoming new play Rapture, Blister, Burn by Obie Award-winning writer Gina Gionfriddo, which begins previews Friday, May 18.

The Off-Broadway institution is the recipient of numerous awards and last year was honored with its fifth Pulitzer Prize for Drama, for Bruce Norris’ Clybourne Park, which had its World Premiere at the theater and is currently playing on Broadway. The 2012/2013 season includes plays and musicals by Annie Baker, Tanya Barfield, Lisa D’Amour, Scott Frankel, Richard Greenberg, Amy Herzog, Samuel D. Hunter and Michael Korie.
