Well after Broadway orchestras begin their overtures, ensemble members take their dance breaks, and performers belt out their eleven o'clock numbers, the party continues at various cabaret venues throughout New York City. Arena Stage presents the final production of its 2015/16 season, Ayad Akhtar's Pulitzer Prize-winning drama DISGRACED. Director Timothy Douglas (Arena's King Hedley II) tackles this emotionally-charged play by Akhtar, author of the novel 'American Dervish' and currently the most produced playwright in the United States. Due to popular demand and following the announcement of its three 2016 Outer Critics Circle Award nominations, including 'Outstanding New Off-Broadway Musical,' a new block of tickets is now on sale through September 25, 2016 for the new hit Off-Broadway musical, CAGNEY with book by Peter Colley and music & lyrics by Robert Creighton and Christopher McGovern, at The Westside Theatre -Upstairs (407 West 43rd Street). In addition, beginning July 7, 2016, CAGNEY will play Thursday afternoon matinees at 2:00 p.m.
At a ceremony held earlier this week in New York, the Manhattan Association of Cabarets & Clubs announced the winners of the 2016 MAC Awards. A Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Amanda McBroom. Also honored with a Board of Directors award was Maryann Lopinto. Jamie deRoy received the Ruth Kurtzman Benefit Award on behalf of her work with The Actors Fund: Jamie deRoy & Friends Cabaret Initiative. Sally Darling received the Hanson Award. The show was produced by Julie Miller and directed by Lennie Watts, with musical direction by Matt Baker.

'Words & Music: The Songbook Series', a four-program line-up of stellar cabaret entertainment curated by Tom Andersen, kicks off in Catskill on April 1 with five-time MAC Award winner Eric Michael Gillet in 'Man About Town: The Wit and Wisdom of Noel Coward'. This stylish and sophisticated evening will be presented at 8:00pm in Bridge Street Theatre's intimate 'Speakeasy', located at 44 West Bridge Street in the Village of Catskill.

Amber Mak, Founding Artistic Director of FWD Theatre Project, the not-for- profit arts organization dedicated to the Discovery, Development, and Delivery of the new American musical, is stepping down from her position to assume the role of New Works Development Director at Paramount Theatre in Aurora.
Maurice Hines Tappin' Thru Life at New World Stages (340 W. 50th Street) will play its final performance this Sunday, February 21st. At the time of closing the show will have played 21 previews and 46 performances.
