AUDIO: Alice Cooper Sings Broadway! Takes on King Herod's Song from JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR

With the recent rumors that rocker Alice Cooper is in negotiations to take on the role of supervillain the Green Goblin in Broadway's SPIDER-MAN: TURN OFF THE DARK, you might be wondering what 'The Godfather of Shock Rock' would sound like singing on Broadway. It turns out that Cooper recorded a version of 'King Herod's Song' for the 1996 studio recording of Andrew Lloyd Webber's JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR. He was not part of the original 1996 London stage cast but was brought in just to sing the tune. Listen below!

Broadway's SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark is doing its part to support New York's critically ill and injured children at St. Mary's Healthcare System for Children, the City's only long-term rehabilitation hospital for children and the region's largest provider of home healthcare to children with medically complex conditions. Throughout the month of June, when guests buy Spider-Man tickets through Givenick, a portion of all proceeds will be donated to St. Mary's Healthcare System for Children.

Julie Taymor Gets Better Billing as a Result of SPIDER-MAN Lawsuit

According to the New York Times, Julie Taymor came out of her lawsuit against the producers of SPIDER-MAN: TURN OFF THE DARK with better billing. As of March 2011, when Taymor was officially fired as director of the musical, Taymor was credited on the show playbill with 'Original Direction By' just under Philip Wm. McKinley, who was credited as director. Now as per terms in the settlement, Taymor is listed as director above McKinley, who's credit has been changed to 'additional direction by.'
