Photo Flash: First Look at Jane Kaczmarek and More in Deaf West's OUR TOWN at Pasadena Playhouse

Pasadena Playhouse, the State Theatre of California and Deaf West Theatre, the performing arts organization behind the Tony Award-winning and Ovation Award-winning revival of Spring Awakening, present a new production of Thornton Wilder's OUR TOWN. Directed by Tony Award-nominated Sheryl Kaller (Broadway's Next Fall, Mothers and Sons), this groundbreaking new co-production by Pasadena Playhouse and Deaf West Theatre is being performed in both American Sign Language and spoken English through October 22, 2017. We Will Not Be Silent at CATF is an extraordinary theatrical experience based on true events. College student Sophie Scholl is arrested and interrogated by a German Nazi officer (not entirely unsympathetic to her cause) for the only act of civil disobedience protesting Hitler by a German citizen during the Second World War.

We Will Not Be Silent - The true story of Sophie Scholl, a German college student who led the only act of public resistance to the Nazis during World War II, David Meyers' play examines the moral strength and clarity that led a group of students to risk their lives for a righteous, but hopeless, cause. The Fountain offers a free staged reading as an adjunct to its currently running production of Building the Wall.

CATF's Ed Herendeen Named Distinguished Citizen

The 2017 Festival features six new play readings, a keynote address and playwrights' panel, and two premieres of plays that were read as part of last year's PlayLab.

CATF Previews 2017 Season with Shepherdstown Sneak Peek

The Contemporary American Theater Festival (CATF) will host a Shepherdstown Sneak Peek onFriday, March 24th at 8pm at the Frank Center of Shepherd University. The season preview will consist of readings from all six of CATF's 2017 plays. Founder and Producing Director Ed Herendeen will introduce and discuss the upcoming season. This event isfree and open to the public.

Rhyming Biography A SUCKER EMCEE Come to the National Black Theatre

After a highly acclaimed world premiere production run in 2014 at the Labyrinth Theater Company, the rhyming biography A Sucker Emcee will come to the National Black Theatre [NBT] from April 26 through April 30, 2017. Written and performed by Craig 'muMs' Grant, A Sucker Emcee will be a special six show limited engagement as part of NBT's 48th season themed In Pursuit of Black Joy. For this remount, NBT has brought together the original production team of Director Jenny Koons, DJ/composer Rich Medina, Set Designer David Meyer, Light Designer Bradley King, and Sound Designer Jessica Paz.
