Draper, will be adapted into a humor- and heart-filled movie by Big Beach, Participant, EveryWhere Studios LLC and Disney Branded Television for Disney+; it was announced today by Ayo Davis, president, Disney Branded Television.

New Perspectives Theatre Company (NPTC) has announced the March 4, 2022 launch of ON HER SHOULDERS: Celebrating 1,000 Years of Women Writing Plays, the first-of-its-kind database of women from the around the world who have used the dramatic form of expression for the whole, or for part, of their literary careers.

New Perspectives Theatre Company will rename its annual Short Play Festival of pieces created in the Women's Work LAB to reflect the contributions of late and dearly beloved Meganne George to the success of the festival over 14 years.

On Her Shoulders will present a virtual reading of El Conde Partinuplés (c. 1640) by Ana Caro, translated by Hardley Eardman, and directed by Lynn Marie Macy, via NPTC's YouTube Channel: NewPerspectivesTC. Melody Brooks provides dramaturgy via The Play in Context, which situates the script in its historical time and place.

With its continuing mission to support women theatre makers and creators through discourse, resources, and mentorship, the League of Professional Theatre Women (www.theatrewomen.org) will kick off its 39th season on Monday, September 13 at 7 pm with a free virtual event, open to all League members and women interested in future League membership.

Tony Award-winning theatre producer Daryl Roth and playwright Theresa Rebeck (both Co-Chairs of the LPTW Advisory Council) will introduce the 2021 Theatre Women Awards Virtual Gala and speak about their hopes for the future of the industry, as live theatre returns. The event will be presented virtually by the League of Professional Theatre Women on Monday, June 7 at 7pm.

Meganne George, Indiana-born beloved New York City theatre production designer, passed away on July 30th in her home on City Island. She was 52.

The League of Professional Theatre Women (Shellen Lubin and Catherine Porter, Co-Presidents), an organization which has been championing women in the professional theatre for over three decades, will launch their 37th season of programming, events, and advocacy, with a special event on Wednesday, September 25 at Theaterlab (357 West 36th Street, 3rd Floor, New York, NY 10018). Pre-reception networking will begin at 6:30pm. The event will officially kick-off at 7pm, followed by post-reception networking from 9pm-9:30pm.

NPTC and Banana Boat Productions are reprising their powerful production of The Ritual by noted Trinidadian playwright Zeno Obi Constance at New Perspectives Studio, 458 West 37th Street (@10th Avenue.) This limited-run production celebrates the 40th Anniversary of Constance's ground-breaking play which caused a stir in 1979 when it was aired live on Trinidadian television-and then blacked out in the middle of the broadcast because it was perceived to be too shocking. Performances are June 19 - 30, 2019 , Weds - Sat @7:30pm, Sundays @4pm..
