Actors' Shakespeare Project continues its season-long exploration of 'Affairs of the Heart', examining the darker side of love as a catalyst for cruelty and redemption with Shakespeare's THE WINTER'S TALE. Directed by OBIE Award winner Melia Bensussen, ASP brings this story of heartbreak and emotional resurrection to Willet Hall at United Parish, 210 Harvard Street in Brookline, from tonight, December 10, 2015 to January 3, 2016.

Actors' Shakespeare Project (ASP) today revealed new venues and  casting for the next two productions for the 2015/16 Season, Affairs of the Heart. The company's 12th season opened with the  tragedy in Othello, now playing until October 25 at The Modern Theatre at Suffolk University. The gripping undertow of a turbulent past threatens to drown the three main characters in OCEANSIDE, a searing new play by Nick Gandiello currently in its world premiere at Merrimack Repertory Theatre in Lowell. Taut, terse and unrelenting, the play ebbs and flows with a deceivingly gentle rhythm until a powerful tsunami all but demolishes each character's carefully constructed new life.

It is a signal of good writing and significant dramatic impact that a play which premiered in 1935 can be relevant nearly eighty years later. Clifford Odets' classic AWAKE AND SING! is grounded in the dire economics of the depression era and the circumstances of a Jewish immigrant extended family struggling to survive in their overcrowded Bronx apartment. Informed by her own family history, Obie Award-winner Melia Bensussen directs the Huntington Theatre Company production with intensity and an inherent understanding of the challenges faced by the Bergers and their ilk.

The retreat allows selected members of the Huntington Playwriting Fellows program two weeks to participate in an artist-driven intensive, developing new plays.
