The Kitchen's Spring 2018 Gala celebrates Nan Goldin and Lydia Lunch, two iconic American artists whose careers were borne of, deeply influenced, and have now engrained in collective memory the underground artistic spirit and political underpinnings of pre-gentrification Downtown New York subcultures (May 16). The evening features performances by New York's own post-punk band Bush Tetras, saxophonist and vocalist James Chance, and Australian singer JG Thirlwell & Ensemble with special guests. The after-party, hosted by Nicolas Jaar, will include a DJ set by Veronica Vasicka as well as performances by Retrovirus along with Lydia Lunch.
A Classic Broadway Mother's Day, special Mother's Day performance of the ongoing concert series An Evening of Classic Broadway, now in its 5th year, takes place on Sunday, May 13th at Rockwell Table and Stage in Los Angeles. Doors open at 4:30 for the 6PM show. McCollum is one of the many Broadway artists who have performed and choreographed at BC BEAT and have made the most of the opportunity at hand.

Underscore Theatre and The Den Theatre are pleased to announce casting for an all-new staging of the Jeff Award-nominated Best New Musical HAYMARKET (formerly Haymarket: The Anarchist's Songbook), the true story of Chicago's infamous Haymarket massacre. With book, music and lyrics by Alex Higgin-Houser and David Kornfeld, the actors accompany themselves to the stirring folk-infused score. Having spent the last two years workshopping the show, the authors alongside director Nick Thornton and music director Robert Ollis have crafted an all-new theatrical experience - creating new songs, overhauling the book, and like the union workers from the show, building anew.
The 11th Annual Las Vegas Film Festival, partnered with CineVegas,announced this morning the initial programming lineup for the 2018 Festival, to be held at Brenden Theatres and Palms Casino Resort June 6 – 10. The lineup includes a mix of feature films and documentaries that have been favorites on the international festival circuit, as well as new additions to this year's Festival - live discussions and live comedy. 2018 also marks the first year with seasoned film festival programming veteran Mike Plante serving as the Festival's Captain of Strategy.
The Fools & Kings Project in collaboration with Riverbank State Park opens its free outdoor production of The Winter's Tale on Saturday, May 5th at Summit Rock at 6:00 PM (entrance at W. 81st St and Central Park West). This marks the first production of the company's fifth season of free, outdoor Shakespeare.

MTV today announced the categories and nominees for the 2018 'MTV Movie & TV Awards,' hosted by Tiffany Haddish, that celebrate the actors, stories and moments that drove pop culture in the last year. The show will once again feature non-gendered categories - a change that marked an industry-first historic shift. The production opens on 22 May, with previews from 10 May, and runs until 7 July.
