As performed by the 'pretty and witty' Melanie Johnson, who manages to deliver writerdirector Ryan J-W Smith's iambic pentameter monologue as if it was the most natural way for her to speak, I learned how this girl from the wrong side of the tracks, born as common as they come, made her way into court and flourished. Dressed a laced-up wench of the time, first selling oranges to those in the audience, Johnson went on to present wonderful character portrayals with a wide variety of accents as she shared Nell's amazing life journey.

On Saturday, September 9, 2017, The John P. McGovern Museum of Health and Medical Science welcomed its latest exhibit 40 Chances: Finding Hope in a Hungry World The Photography of Howard G. Buffett. To coincide with 40 Chances: Finding Hope in a Hungry World, The Health Museum will be collecting food donations in support of the Hurricane Harvey relief effort for 40 Days from September 9 to October 18, 2017.

This summer, The Health Museum will be the place for children and teens of all ages to explore medical sciences and the human body through hands-on interactive camps and workshops including the Summer Discovery Camps and its annual Global Teen Medical Summit.

Boston marathon bombing survivor, Heather Abbott will join The John P. McGovern Museum of Health and Medical Science on Monday, April 24, 2017 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. for the Women's Health Empowerment Luncheon, "Never Count Us Out." The Empowerment Luncheon - hosted by The Health Museum - will feature an inspiring keynote address by Abbott about true grit, determination, and strength, and will take place at 1515 Hermann Dr., Houston, Texas 77004.

Beginning Saturday, January 14, 2017 Houstonians will be able to explore the innate intricacies of the human body through more than 75 real human specimens that have been preserved through the process of Plastination at The Health Museum.

Just in time for the New Year and New Year's resolutions, The Health Museum introduces its 2017 Mindfulness Class schedule for kids, teens and adults.

Atlanta matron Daisy Werthan and her driver and best friend Hoke Colburn are hitting the road again in a production of Alfred Uhry's Driving Miss Daisy, which tours to three small Tennessee towns over the next few weeks in a new production from Melanie Johnson Roady's Mel O'Drama Theater.
