Theatre production company Parity Productions, the only New York theatre company that ensures that they fill at least 80% of the creative roles on their own productions—playwrights, directors, and designers—with women, trans, and gender-expansive artists and offers free tools to encourage the rest of the theatre industry to do the same, has awarded two commissions to Kelley Nicole Girod for This Stretch of Montpelier and M Sloth Levine for At Hotel MacGuffin. The ceremony took place on Wednesday, November 10th as a hybrid event over zoom and in person at the Manny Cantor Center.

Teen Musicians From Across NYC Come Together At Carnegie Hall For FUTURE MUSIC PROJECT

Throughout the season, New York City teens will come together to write, produce, and perform original music with their peers and learn from leading artists through Future Music Project, a vibrant, growing creative community based out of Carnegie Hall's Resnick Education Wing. 2018 - 2019 programming will highlight Carnegie Hall's Migrations: The Making of America festival, with young people reflecting on the impact of migration on their past, present, and future and creating new works responding to those themes. Select songs written by teens will be showcased on Sunday, May 19, 2019 at 7:30 p.m. as part of Soul Mechanisms, a special concert in Zankel Hall led by celebrated performer Toshi Reagon.

BRIC has announced full programming for the 2018 BRIC JazzFest, the fourth annual edition of the celebrated Brooklyn jazz festival, whichcontinues a yearlong celebration to cap off four decades for the pioneering NYC arts-and-media organization and leading presenter of free cultural programming in Brooklyn. The multidisciplinary festival takes place over the course of a week (October 13-20) and thrives as what the New Yorker calls a "proudly eclectic gathering [that] remains unbounded by convention." This year's edition will feature film, dance, a panel discussion, workshops, and culminates with a three-night concert marathon, with performances occurring simultaneously throughout the various spaces comprising the dynamic BRIC House (647 Fulton Street, Brooklyn). For its 40th anniversary, BRIC has commissioned rising star trumpeter Keyon Harrold to write a new piece of music which will have its world premiere at the 2018 BRIC JazzFest.

Rattlestick Playwrights Theater announced today that due to Hurricane Irene, performances of The Wood, a new play by award-winning filmmaker Dan Klores about the life of New York columnist Mike McAlary, have been delayed. The Wood will now begin performances on Thursday, September 1 at Rattlestick Theater (224 Waverly Place - off Seventh Avenue South, between Perry & West 11th Streets). Opening night, previously set for Friday, September 9, will now be Thursday, September 15 at 8pm. David Bar Katz directs.

Mr. Versailles assumes the role of Abner Louima, replacing Gregory Bastien who has left the production.
