KPOP Leads the Pack in 33rd Annual Lucille Lortel Award Nominations- The Full List!

The Off-Broadway League today announced nominations in 19 categories for the 33rd Annual Lucille Lortel Awards for Outstanding Achievement Off-Broadway. The Lortel Awards will be presented on Sunday, May 6, 2018 at NYU Skirball Center beginning at 7:00 PM EST.  This year's event will be hosted by actors Laura Benanti and Jason Jones and will once again serve as a benefit for The Actors Fund.

Out Front Theatre Company Announces Tremendous 2018-2019 Season

Out Front Theatre Company, the only theater in the Southeast dedicated to telling stories of the LGBTQIA+ experience and community, announced today its third season of imaginative, inspiring and inclusive productions. The expanded 2018-2019 season lineup will feature five productions and will include everything from full-scale musicals to intimate dramas to campy comedies.

American Theatre Wing Announces 2018 Jonathan Larson Grant Recipients

The American Theatre Wing (Heather Hitchens, President & CEO) announced today that the 2018 Jonathan Larson® Grants recipients areJay Adana (music and lyrics), Andrew R. Butler & Andrew Farmer (music, lyrics, and book), Emily Kaczmarek & Zoe Sarnak (music, lyrics, and book), and Mark Sonnenblick(music and lyrics). Four prestigious, unrestricted grants of $10,000 each, as well as additional support in the form of residencies, concerts, and recording grants, totaling over $48,000, will be presented on Monday, March 19, 2018 at a private event at the WNYC Greene Space. The event will feature special performances of the recipients' work.

THE VIEW UPSTAIRS Extends Run

Due to popular demand, new tickets have been released to the upcoming Australian Premiere of the hit Off-Broadway musical, The View UpStairs, which is part of the 2018 Mardi Gras Festival. Invisible Wall Productions and Sugary Rum Productions in association with Hayes Theatre Co have announced an additional week of performances of this provocative new musical, written by Max Vernon, which commences on 8 February with tickets now available until Sunday 11 March. Applications Open For Musical Theatre Writers At Rhinebeck Writers Retreat

Kathy Evans, Founding Executive Director of Rhinebeck Writers Retreat, announced applications are open for this summer. Nine musical theatre writing teams will be hosted for 9 consecutive weeklong residencies in the Hudson Valley between July 2 and September 3. All writers are eligible and their musical can be at any stage of development, as long as it has not been published or licensed. Selected writers pay nothing to participate and receive a $500 stipend. All costs are covered by donations to Rhinebeck Writers Retreat, including travel up to $750.  Writers with children are welcomed to apply and Rhinebeck Writers Retreat will accommodate their housing needs. There is no fee for applications received by February 16 and there is a fee of $20 for the final deadline of February 23.  All information, guidelines, and online application can be found at www.rhinebeckwriters.org.

Following a year-long search, Ars Nova one of the most adventurous Off Broadway companies (New York Times) has been selected by Greenwich House as the new tenant of their historic, 199-seat Greenwich House Theater, which opened in 1917 and is located at 27 Barrow Street. Midtown Direct Rep (MDR) is delighted to present its second reading of its 2017-1018 staged reading series, Theater at The Woodland, with a presentation of FEAR, written by Matt Williams and directed by Mark Armstrong.
