London is never short of theatre temptations, whether splashy West End shows, epic dramas or bold fringe offerings. From the new Groundhog Day musical and Shakespeare in a department store to a highly anticipated Branagh performance, here are some of this month's most eye-catching openings. Artistic Director of The Old Vic Matthew Warchus, composer and lyricist Tim Minchin, choreographer Peter Darling, and designer Rob Howell, four of the creators of the international musical sensation Matilda The Musical, have joined forces with writer Danny Rubin to collaborate on a new musical based on his 1993 hit film GROUNDHOG DAY. It's now in previews, with a press night on Tuesday 16 August.

Harry Potter mania grips London, while over the pond the States is seized by Hamilton fever. What do they have in common? With performances only beginning last week, David Mirvish and The Royal Shakespeare Company and The Dodgers are delighted to announce that popular demand for the Canadian premiere production of MATILDA THE MUSICAL is once again forcing them to extend its run, this time through November 27, 2016. 

The best of Broadway will be performing FREE on six consecutive Thursdays this summer with '106.7 LITE FM's Broadway in Bryant Park 2016' - a lunchtime series that just kicked off today, July 7 on the Bryant Park Stage. Hosted by LITE FM's on-air personalities, the 16th annual presentation of open-air, On- and Off- Broadway lunch hour performances will run through Thursday, August 11.

Mark Rylance and Louis Jenkins' critically acclaimed new comic play NICE FISH will transfer to the West End this winter, following sold-out seasons at the American Repertory Theater at Harvard University in Cambridge and St Ann's Warehouse in New York. Directed by Claire van Kampen, the production runs at the Harold Pinter Theatre 15 November-21 January 2017, with press night on 25 November.

Starring a cast of acclaimed Canadian musical theatre performers in principal roles and three exciting young talents sharing the title role, MATILDA THE MUSICAL is produced by The Royal Shakespeare Company and The Dodgers presented in Toronto by David Mirvish as part of his 2015-16 Main Subscription Season. Performances begin Tuesday July 5 at the Ed Mirvish Theatre, with the media night scheduled forThursday, July 7 at 6:45 PM. Tickets are now available for performances until October 16, 2016.

On Monday, June 27 at 7:30 p.m. at Don't Tell Mama, several young past and present performers from Broadway joined forces in a benefit cabaret to raise money and show support for the victims, survivors and those suffering as a result of the mass shooting in Orlando this month. The benefit was entitled Broadway Kids for Orlando: All You Need is Love. One hundred percent of the proceeds are being donated to the GLBT Center of Central Florida, and all 49 victims of The Pulse Nightclub shooting were honored in the program. tour TIME Magazine's #1 Show of 2013, MATILDA THE MUSICAL, is coming to Sioux Falls, SD.  Produced by the Royal Shakespeare Company and the Dodgers, the first national tour of MATILDA THE MUSICAL will be coming to the Washington Pavilion Mary W. Sommervold Hall for six performances on March 22-26, 2017.

The talented, hard-working children of MATILDA THE MUSICAL NATIONAL TOUR spend much of their time on stage revolting against their horrible headmistress Miss Trunchbull. Off-stage they should revolt against the horrible sound system that renders their lyrics indecipherable.

The upcoming musical stage adaptation of GROUNDHOG DAY is set to premiere at London's Old Vic Theater this July before making the transfer to Broadway next January.
