Canadian Stage unveiled its highly anticipated 2010-2011 season today, marking the first season programmed by Artistic & General Director Matthew Jocelyn. The season heralds a bold, new direction for the company. Jocelyn seeks to redefine Canadian Stage as a centre for national and international multi-disciplinary theatre that pushes boundaries, adopts a 21st-century perspective and reflects Toronto's cultural diversity. The work will be driven by directors and auteurs at the forefront of contemporary theatre and audiences will have the opportunity to discover a new generation of story-tellers who challenge and entertain.

Canadian Stage today announced The Company Theatre (A Whistle in the Dark, Festen, Through the Leaves) as the newest collaborators in The Berkeley Street Project, an ongoing partnership initiative that profiles Toronto's independent theatre community while presenting vibrant, contemporary theatre in the city. The Company Theatre will produce a yet-to-be-announced production at the Berkeley Street Theatre as part of Canadian Stage's 2011.2012 subscription season.

Canadian Stage is proud to partner with Vancouver's Electric Company Theatre to bring a fascinating production of Studies in Motion: The Hauntings of Eadweard Muybridge to Toronto audiences. The show is a visually and physically explosive spectacle, drawn from the life and work of 19th century photographer Eadweard Muybridge. Directed by 2010 Siminovitch Theatre Award-winner Kim Collier, written by Governor General Award-winning dramatist Kevin Kerr and choreographed by the Dora Mavor Moore Award-winner Crystal Pite, the production is on stage from November 22 to December 18 (media night: November 25) at the Bluma Appel Theatre, 27 Front Street East, Toronto. Four Original Cast Members Set For In MIDDLE PLACE In Toronto Oct 21-Nov 14

Project: Humanity, Theatre Passe Muraille and Canadian Stage announced casting for The Middle Place by Toronto playwright Andrew Kushnir, directed by Alan Dilworth. The Toronto production will feature four of the original cast of five including Akosua Amo-Adem (who won the SummerWorks 2009 Award for best new emerging artist for her portrayal), Antonio Cayonne, Jessica Greenberg and Kevin Walker. Actor/playwright Andrew Kushnir will play himself in the production for the first time. The Middle Place runs October 21 to November 14, 2010, at TPM's Mainspace and moves to Canadian Stage's Berkeley Street Theatre, February 14 to March 12, 2011, before embarking on a tour to Ottawa and Victoria. Canadian visionary Robert Lepage has created a modern-day, multimedia fairytale that tells the story of a Quebecois songwriter (Yves Jacques, The Barbarian Invasions, The Far Side of the Moon) whose notable engagement with the Paris Opera helps him discover what defines, motivates and inspires him. Canadian Stage TD Dream in High Park Seeks Volunteers

Toronto's longest-running outdoor summer theatre event is looking for volunteers. Canadian Stage invites individuals 15 years and older to be a part of the 28th Annual Canadian Stage TD Dream in High Park and spend several evenings under the stars volunteering at this year's production of William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, June 25 to September 5, 2010.
