It's kind of gutsy to feature an alternative musical treatment of Gaston Leroux's Phantom of the Opera when its iconic award-winning Andrew Lloyd Weber namesake is liable to overshadow any such effort, but that's what Hale Centre Theatre has done, and with great success, in its season opener, Phantom.

Artistic Director Charles Bruffy brings his two professional Grammy winning choirs, the Kansas City Chorale and the Phoenix Chorale, together to perform the pinnacle of Russian sacred music, Sergei Rachmaninoff's All-Night Vigil. Bruffy has led the Kansas City Chorale since 1988 and the Phoenix Chorale since 1999. The concert takes place on May 23, 2014, in Kansas City at Redemptorist Church, 3333 Broadway.

Wasatch Theatrical Ventures will present one of the great American plays of the 20th century, INHERIT THE WIND, written by Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee, directed by the award-winning Kiff Scholl, produced by Racquel Lehrman/Theatre Planners. In a small town courtroom and with the eyes of the nation upon them, two legal giants face off over a teacher's right to teach evolution to a high school class in this critically acclaimed drama based on the Scopes Monkey Trial. As rousing and relevant today as it was when it debuted in 1955, INHERIT THE WIND is an edge-of-your-seat riveting look at the age-old conflict between science and religion. The play opens Friday, February 8th and runs through March 16th at the Grove Theatre Center in Burbank, CA.

Directed by BNT Ensemble Member Spenser Davis, From White Plains will run in the Downstairs Studio at the Greenhouse Theater Center, 2257 North Lincoln Ave., tonight, January 24th - February 23rd.

Williamstown Theatre Festival honored Award-winning director and frequent WTF collaborator Scott Ellis, at last night's benefit at the Edison Ballroom in New York City. The evening was hosted by Julie White, who won a Tony Award for her performance in the Ellis-helmed production of The Little Dog Laughed, and included appearances by Tony Award-winners Chita Rivera, Susan Stroman, Rupert Holmes and more. Continuing its tradition of bringing Broadway's favorites back to life, SMTC has announced their next production, the beloved classic musical The Music Man, for a special engagement. Performances will take place at the intimate 300-seat Dorrance Auditorium on the beautiful campus at Phoenix Country Day School in Paradise Valley. All SMTC shows feature the best local talent in the valley and a live 20+ piece orchestra.

It was announced today that Williamstown Theatre Festival Artistic Director Jenny Gersten will step down at the end of the year to become Executive Director of Friends of the Highline, the non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation and re-use of an elevated railway that has become a renowned public space in New York City. While the search is underway for a new Artistic Director, WTF's 2014 summer season will remain under Gersten's Artistic Direction; she will curate and oversee the season to ensure a seamless leadership transition.

The National Pastime Theater will present the Chicago premiere of Octavio Solis' Pulitzer Prize nominated play 'Lydia' opening Friday, October 4 at 8pm.
