It seems odd to go to the Dominion Theatre and not see that giant golden statue of Freddie Mercury looking down on you. After this limited run of Evita, one wonders if they'll use the space to honour Madalena Alberto, who gives a simply astonishing performance as Eva Peron.

The musical considered by many to be Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's masterwork will play for 55 performances only in the West End, with musical theatre and pop icon Marti Pellow playing Che, Ben Forster playing Augustin Magaldi, and newcomer Madalena Alberto in the title role.
