BoxFest Detroit, an annual theatre festival that showcases and creates opportunities for female-identifying directors, has announced the schedule for its 2018 festival. BoxFest Detroit 2018 runs Friday evenings and Saturday afternoons and evenings, August 17 - 25, at Planet Ant Theatre.
Michigan Opera Theatre (MOT) has added two directors to its leadership team. MOT appointed Andrea Scobie to Director of Education and Arthur White to Director of External Affairs. Both newly-created positions aim to enhance MOT's community presence and offerings.

Ahead of Eating Disorder Day on 2 June, an ambitious fundraising initiative has now been launched to help raise money for a 4-week season at the acclaimed Edinburgh Fringe Festival of EAT ME, a brand-new play written by Surrey-born writer Suzanna Walters which aims to take on the eating disorder Anorexia.
This year's Matrix Summer Creativity Camp participants will learn skills related to the theatre and visual arts, as they spend a week exploring their vision for Detroit's future. They will have the opportunity to work with professional teaching artists to create and share original works based on their vision. Internationally acclaimed playwright Katori Hall, currently artistic director of the Hattiloo Theatre in Memhis, TN, will remount L.A.'s Matrix Theatre production of her play, The Mountaintop, at Memphis's Orpheum Theatre in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the death of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Obie award-winner Roger Guenveur Smith, who directed the Matrix production, will again be at the helm, with Larry Bates and Danielle Mone Truitt reprising their Matrix roles. Award-winning Matrix set designer John Iacovelli will design the set.
