School of Theatre -
Join fellow artists from southeast Michigan for the winter Playwriting & Performance classes where students ages 5 - 14 focus on issues and topics of their own choosing, allowing them the freedom and space to develop and share their individual opinions. At Matrix, professional artists-in-residence guide a highly engaging process where youth learn to become advocates for change, as they collectively write their own plays. They strengthen their literacy skills, as they collaborate on the researching, writing and editing process.

Students learn to express themselves and build performance skills through a rehearsal process of their original work. The semester wraps up with a final public showcase of the new play. "At the Matrix School of Theatre, young artists become the playwrights, producers and performers of their own work," said Cartwright.

Matrix Teen Company -
Matrix Teen Company members will spend their winter and spring developing their newest original 10-minute play to submit for performance consideration at the Detroit Heritage Festival the weekend of May 11 - 13. Admittance to this group is by audition/interview only. If you are interested in joining this ensemble, plan on attending the open house.
