The Southbank Centre and its family of six Resident Orchestras have announced its Autumn/Winter 2023/24 programme. Continuing to bring the greatest symphonic, chamber music, and recital repertoire to the stages while championing classical music for the 21st century by presenting new works and unique experiences, the Autumn/Winter programme features a host of established and emerging talent.

The winners have been unveiled for this year’s Olivier Awards with Mastercard, British theatre’s biggest night, which took place on Sunday 2 April at the Royal Albert Hall in London, hosted by Hannah Waddingham. Check out the photos of the winners here.

The Southbank Centre has today revealed its Autumn/Winter 2022/23 classical music programme – the first edition under the curatorship of Head of Classical Music Toks Dada since arriving at the Southbank Centre.

On Sunday, December 5, 2021 at 2pm EST/7pm GMT, the VOCES8 Foundation will present Grammy Award-winning choir The Crossing as part of its fifth online festival, LIVE From London - Christmas 2021.

The festival opens with four wonderful song recitals presented in partnership with BBC Radio 3 featuring Robert Murray and Alisdair Hogarth, James Atkinson and Sholto Kynoch, Catriona Morison and Malcolm Martineau, and Mary Bevan and Joseph Middleton.  Over the course of these two weeks some of the best classical musicians gather to bring audiences a very special re-immersion in the power of live music.

On Saturday 10th July, Chineke! Orchestra presents its second Royal Festival Hall concert as part of Southbank Centre's Summer Reunion series. Conducted by Matthew Kofi Waldren, it features two symphonies by African-American composers and the debut of an exciting emerging pianist on the classical music scene.

The Handel and Haydn Society will bring live performances back to iconic venues with its 2021-22 season, celebrating the 13th and final season for Artistic Director Harry Christophers. The 207th season will feature eight signature programs at historic venues around Boston including Symphony Hall and H+H’s first ever performance at Carnegie Hall.

The Handel and Haydn Society continues its acclaimed series of Joseph Haydn's masses with a live recording from Boston's Symphony Hall. Haydn Masses Vol. 2 features historically informed performances of two grand classics, Haydn's Military Symphony and the iconic Lord Nelson Mass recorded live under the baton of H+H Artistic Director Harry Christophers on January 24 and 26, 2020.

The Southbank Centre today announces details about Inside Out, a brand-new online season of music, literature and comedy from 17 September - 30 December.

Harry Bicket and the English Concert returned for its just-about-annual Handel-fest at Carnegie Hall with a concert performance of the well-loved ARIODANTE by Handel, starring the even better-loved mezzo Joyce DiDonato. The result was some awfully fine singing--particularly from DiDonato in fine dramatic form--although the pretty disastrous casting of one of the principals (at least from my point of view) brought the production down from the lofty heights it could have attained.

Carnegie Hall today announced that soprano Joélle Harvey must regrettably withdraw from her role as Dalinda in Handel's Ariodante with Harry Bicket and The English Concert scheduled for Sunday, April 30 at 2:00 p.m. in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage due to ill health.
