New Theatre's latest offering is the absurdly hilarious, if not entirely for the faint hearted, THE LIEUTENANT OF INISHMORE. 

The Royal Lyceum Theatre Edinburgh and The Old Vic, London are delighted to announce that John Crowley will direct the World Premiere of Local Hero, a stage adaptation of the 1983 film, co-written by David Greig and Bill Forsyth, with music and lyrics by Mark Knopfler.

Tacoma Little Theatre presents the dark comedy, The Pillowman, by Martin McDonagh, the Oscar winning author/director of Three Billboards Outside of Ebbing, Missouri. This production is directed by Blake York.

Chicago Shakespeare Theater welcomes back Ireland's Druid theatre company-"one of the world's greatest acting ensembles" (The Guardian)-with its critically acclaimed production of Samuel Beckett's masterpiece, Waiting for Godot. Staged by Tony Award-winning director Garry Hynes, the production will be presented for a limited engagement in the Courtyard Theater as part of WorldStage at Chicago Shakespeare, May 23-June 3, 2018.

The Drama League (Gabriel Stelian-Shanks, Executive Artistic Director) today announced the 2018 Drama League Awards Nominees for Outstanding Production of a Play, Outstanding Revival of a Play, Outstanding Production of a Musical, Outstanding Revival of a Musical, and the much-coveted Distinguished Performance Award. THE LIEUTENANT OF INISHMORE is a gleefully gruesome comedy about a merciless Irish terrorist, Mad Padraic and what matters most to him: his precious black cat, Wee Thomas. After his cat is found dead, the heartbroken hit man becomes hell-bent on finding the person responsible. The brutal carnage that ensues makes for an outrageous, blood-drenched comedy that explores the absurdity of the endless violence that engulfs our world. Shakespeare Theatre Company (STC) will host Druid, Ireland's most celebrated theatre company, and their critically acclaimed production of Waiting for Godot. Directed by Tony Award-winner Garry Hynes, Druid's production of Samuel Beckett's absurd, anarchic masterpiece will make its regional premiere at the Lansburgh Theatre (450 7th Street, NW) from April 17 through May 20, 2018 before it travels on to Chicago.

The Public Theater (Artistic Director, Oskar Eustis; Executive Director, Patrick Willingham) will present the Abbey Theatre and the Royal Court Theatre's acclaimed 2016 production of CYPRUS AVENUE, a new play written by David Ireland and directed by Royal Court Artistic Director Vicky Featherstone, featuring Stephen Rea, who last performed at The Public in 2008 in Sam Shepard's Kicking a Dead Horse. Following encore engagements at Dublin's Peacock Stage at the Abbey Theatre (April 30-May 19) and the MAC in Belfast (May 23-26), CYPRUS AVENUE will begin previews for a limited eight-week run on Saturday, June 2 and run through Sunday, July 29 in The Public's LuEsther Hall, with an official press opening on Monday, June 25.

Berkshire Theatre Group (BTG) and Kate Maguire (Artistic Director/CEO) are thrilled to announce an additional Unicorn Theatre production, the comedic double feature: Sister Mary Ignatius Explains It All For You and The Actor's Nightmare, featuring Tony Award-winner, Harriet Harris (Thoroughly Modern Millie, Phantom Thread, Frasier; BTG: Arsenic and Old Lace) as Sister Mary Ignatius.This cast also features Jenn Harris (Silence! Bleak and darkly menacing, playwright Martin McDonagh's view of the world in his blackest of black comedies The Pillowman focuses on the investigation into a series of child murders in a fictional totalitarian state sometime in the near future - or, given the political climate in this real country in which we finds ourselves existing right now, it could well be representative of a parallel universe of which we will learn in the next few weeks or even moments.

The 33rd Film Independent Spirit Award ceremony aired live on IFC on Saturday, March 3 at 2:00 pm PT/5:00 pm ET. Nick Kroll and John Mulaney returned to host the event.

As BroadwayWorld previously reported, Oscar nominee Martin McDonagh's play Hangmen has been eying a Broadway transfer, but the move is not to be, according to the New York Post. Michael Riedel reports that the play, playing through March 25 at Atlantic Theater Company's Linda Gross Theater, will not arrive on Broadway this spring because leading man Johnny Flynn and his wife are expecting a baby.

It's Hollywood's biggest night! Who will go home with Oscar gold tonight? It's anyone's guess!
