Williamstown Theatre Festival has announced additional casting for the 2017 summer season. Two-time Tony Award-nominee Jayne Atkinson and Cote de Pablo will appear in Sarah Ruhl's The Clean House; Tony Award-nominee Micah Stock will appear in Jason Kim's The Model American and Halley Feiffer's Moscow Moscow Moscow Moscow Moscow Moscow; Christopher Livingston, LeRoy McClain and Joniece Abbott-Pratt will perform in Harrison David Rivers' Where Storms are Born; and Rebecca Henderson will perform in Moscow Moscow Moscow Moscow Moscow Moscow.

Just last night,  Williamstown Theatre Festival held its annual Gala, honoring James Giddens and celebrating his steadfast support of New Musicals, featuring special appearances and performances from WTF favorites.

The Bridges of Madison County, a 2013 romantic tuner featuring music and lyrics by Tony Award-winning composer Jason Robert Brown and a book by Marsha Norman, opened on Broadway in 2014, playing only 137 performances before its closing, and there are reasons for that.  The narrative arc is uneven, falling into an irritating habit of concentrating on insignificant peripheral events while leaving the important ones largely unexplored.  The musical also suffers from a clumsy, cloying ending that begs to be cut by a good 20 minutes.   In the hands of a less capable director, these significant script problems might be deal breakers, but under the direction of Justin Anderson, Aurora Theatre's Associate Artistic Director, the production still manages to be a grand affair. 

The Henegar Center's 17th season will include something for everyone.  A mad, revengeful barber, a young orphan, some rockin' nuns, a trip to Vegas, and a romantic look at Madison County will grace the main stage of The Henegar Center.  Upstairs at the Henegar boasts all female leading ladies.  "It's the time of women and their empowerment," says Hank Rion, Artistic Director.  "Women are speaking out all over the country right now; we should hear their voice on stage, too."

American Blues Theater will host a Q & A with Pulitzer and Tony award-winning playwright David Auburn following a performance of his critically-acclaimed play The Columnist on Friday, March 10 at Stage 773, 1225 W. Belmont Ave. in Chicago. The Columnist by David Auburn and directed by Keira Fromm is currently running thru April 1, 2017.

Nashville Repertory Theatre Playwright-in-Residence Nate Eppler has been named a finalist for the Harold and Mimi Steinberg/American Theatre Critics Association (ATCA) New Play Award, recognizing playwrights for the best scripts that premiered professionally outside New York City during 2016.

Broadway and West End star Tam Mutu will star as Archibald Craven in The 5th Avenue Theatre's enchanting Broadway-bound revival of The Secret Garden. Mutu joins a phenomenal cast including Tony Award winner Daisy Eagan, Tony Award nominee Josh Young, Lizzie Klemperer, Charlie Franklin and Sean G. Griffin.

Christopher Gattelli, the Tony-winning choreographer, is practically jumping with joy over the success of ''Disney's Newsies: The Broadway Musical!'' and its giant leap to the big screen. Its three-day screenings (Feb. 16, 18 and 22) broke records to become the highest-grossing Broadway event from Fathom Events. And now ''Disney's Newsies'' will return for an encore showing on Saturday, March 4, at 12:55 p.m.
