A FUNNY GIRL theme and returning guest star Idina Menzel? What more could any self-respecting Broadway baby - or, better yet, gleek - possibly ask for in an episode of GLEE 4.0? Well, last night, we got some out of control college antics - including hallway oil slides and the “Harlem Shake” in a fountain - sage wisdom via Coach Beiste (Dot Marie Jones) and Mr. Schue (Matt Morrison) and even an original tune by AVENUE Q's Tony Award-winning Jeff Marx, to name but a few fabulous features of the show. Yes, last night's GLEE was a continued effortlessly fun frolic and easy, breezy ride in the ever-entertaining musical series, acting as a sweet salve to last week's heart-stopping school shooting and ensuing Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch) drama.

On this week's episode of GLEE titled 'Sweet Dreams', when the New Directions find out this year's Regional's theme is 'Dreams,' everyone has their own opinion as to what they should sing. Meanwhile, the day has finally come for Rachel to audition for the Broadway revival of 'Funny Girl'. Check out phtoos from the episode, which airs April 18, below!

Since its debut in 2009, FOX's Glee has been firmly committed to supporting and promoting music education in schools. Glee continues to give back with the celebration of their 500 th musical performance, an exhilarating rendition of 'Shout,' originally featured in the classic comedy Animal House. On the fourteenth episode of the fourth season of FOX's hit musical comedy series Glee - airing on February 14, no less - Valentine's Day got its grand due, McKinley High-style, once again with 'I Do', written by co-creators Ian Brennan and directed by Brad Falchuk. Complete with heartwarming twists, heart-stopping turns and heartfelt musical numbers for us to remember long after the bonbons have Disappeared and the tea-lights have burned out in the morning-after haze, it was a theme show supreme. Plus, how about the Glee cast in a COMPANY movie musical someday, at least if last night's tribute was any indication of what could be. After all, if Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch) isn't a born-to-be Joanne in the tradition of uncompromising divas like Elaine Stritch and Patti LuPone, then who is?!

Last night's buck naked, buck wild episode of GLEE, 'Naked' - written and directed by series co-creators Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan - acted as evidence that GLEE is about more than mere surface sheen, shine and brilliantine vacuity and it owes its continued success to the its three best features - or, make that assets - the music, the message and the cast. Dressed to the nines or in the all together, as last night's case may have been, taken all together, GLEE continues to hit the high notes, touch the heart and showcase top talent. 'Naked' was one more episode in a surprisingly strong and enjoyable Season Four, albeit a bit body-conscious. Plus, the grand returns of Santana (Naya Rivera), Quinn (Dianna Agron) and Miss Pillsbury (Jayma Mays).

Last night, GLEE made its big Winter return on FOX with Episode 11 of Season Four, titled 'Sadie Hawkins' and a virtually (and sonically) dizzyingly plot-packed and music-bedecked episode written by Ross Maxwell and directed by Bradley Buecker. New characters were introduced, romances were born and furthered and a lot of songs were sung - all in all, a GLEE just right for the midway point of the year.

Liberally utilizing tried and true heartstring-tugging tropes masterfully displayed in holiday entities as diverse as LOVE, ACTUALLY, IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE, A CHRISTMAS CAROL, HOLIDAY INN and even showing some Chanukah action sure to set virtually anybody's menorah fully alight thanks to the Puckerman brothers, GLEE's Christmas episode - this year, aptly titled 'Love, Actually' and written by Matthew Hodgson and directed by HAIRSPRAY and ROCK OF AGES movie musical helmer and a recent participant in this very column, Adam Shankman (available here) - was all in all a quite quintessential quintet of seasonal joy, cheer, and, well, glee, broaching the quoin of many and any a viewer's heart valves in so pleasingly enacting its ample entertainment value over the course of the episode's five featured segments within the winning framework. While the split-location structure of the series as dictated by the new style of GLEE 4.0 is assuredly more pronounced than would be the case had the proposed NYC-set spin-off gotten the greenlight by FOX, the cast and creators are making it all work and it is more seamless as it goes on - and the addictive, giddy, all-consuming glee of it all that drew us all in in the first season is still there to relish by Santa's sleigh-ful.

'Tis the season to be jolly as the Glee cast releases Glee: The Music, The Christmas Album Vol. 3, available Tuesday, December 11.The album features timeless holiday classics, including "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas," "White Christmas," and "Jingle Bell Rock." Six of the tracks recorded will be included on the holiday themed episode of Glee, which airs Thursday, December 13, at 9:00 PM ET/PT on FOX.
