LA BETE Starring Rylance, Pierce & Lumley to Open on Broadway Oct. 14

The first major revival of David Hirson's Olivier Award-winning comedy LA BÊTE starring Tony and Olivier Award winner Mark Rylance, Tony and Emmy Award winner David Hyde Pierce, and BAFTA Award winner (and star of 'Absolutely Fabulous') Joanna Lumley will open on Broadway October 14, 2010 at a Shubert Theatre to be announced. This new production, helmed by acclaimed director Matthew Warchus (God of Carnage, Boeing-Boeing, The Norman Conquests), will begin previews September 23, 2010, following a limited summer engagement at the Comedy Theatre in London's West End from June 26-September 4, 2010 with opening night set for July 7.

Tony Award-winner Julie Taymor and Oscar-winner Elliot Goldenthal will be honored with the Samuel H. Scripps Award at Theatre for a New Audience's 30th Anniversary Gala Celebrating Shakespeare's 446th Birthday. The celebration, Monday, May 10, will be held at The Powerhouse at the American Museum of Natural History, Central Park West at 79th Street.

Shakespeare's Globe will be honouring two of England's biggest historical and cultural icons with a host of weekend events to celebrate St George's Day and Shakespeare's 446th birthday. The weekend will include the popular Sonnet Walks on Saturday 17 April as well as a free Open Day, supported by the Mayor of London's St George's Day celebrations on Sunday 18 April. The 2010 theatre season entitled Kings and Rogues will open on Friday 23 April, the day of Shakespeare's birthday.
