The holiday season is not complete without the perfect music to accompany it. 'Broadway's Carols for a Cure' is the latest compilation album that embodies the spirit of the season like nothing else can. A project born completely out of love, 'Broadway's Carols for a Cure' pairs the casts from famous Broadway musicals with songs that are both classic and new. The result is pure gold that will make you reach for the 'repeat' button over and over again.

A reading/showcase of Two Lost Worlds, a new musical written and conceived by Sinclair Mitchell, will be presented at Pearl Studios on October 24th & 25th, 2016 at 2 p.m. to support Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. 

As BroadwayWorld previously reported, SOMETHING ROTTEN!'s current cod-piece clad Shakespeare -- Will Chase -- will depart the show on October 9, and will be replaced temporarily by understudy Eric Sciotto. Sciotto will assume the role through October 23. A permanent replacement has not yet been announced.

In anticipation of the first Presidential Debate tonight, Broadway for Hillary has released a music video featuring Broadway performers singing stage classics with a pro-Hillary twist!

Following the solemn news of SOMETHING ROTTEN's closing last night, the Broadway musical's current cod-piece clad Shakespeare -- Will Chase -- took to Twitter today to announce his own departure date. No word yet on his replacement.

The 10-time Tony Award nominated hit musical comedy Something Rotten!, directed and choreographed by Tony Award winner Casey Nicholaw (The Book of Mormon, Aladdin), with music and lyrics by Grammy Award winner and Tony Award nominee Wayne Kirkpatrick and Golden Globe Award and Tony Award nominee Karey Kirkpatrick and a book by Tony Award nominees Karey Kirkpatrick and best-selling author John O'Farrell will conclude its critically acclaimed engagement on Broadway on January 1, 2017 following 742 performances.

The best of Broadway has been performing FREE on six consecutive Thursdays this summer with '106.7 LITE FM's Broadway in Bryant Park 2016' - a lunchtime series that continued this week, August 11 on the Bryant Park Stage.

As a member of the original Broadway cast of SOMETHING ROTTEN! she understudied Heidi Blickenstaff as Bea.

Prior to my attendance at Dallas Theater Center's DREAMGIRLS this weekend, my familiarity with the show was based on the 2006 motion picture and the 2001 Actors Fund concert recording (not to mention the Tony Awards clip featuring Jennifer Holliday). Basically knowing only the film, I had often considered how smoothly the stage show could handle the onstage to backstage transitions, given the fast-paced musical score it followed. And, although the DTC production offers a slick, seamless interpretation of the piece, I'm afraid I left the theatre with the impression that the (gasp) movie adaptation was superior to the stage version. That being said, there are still many reasons to head to the Wyly to see this production.

Dallas Theater Center announced today complete details for the award-winning hit musical Dreamgirls. This modern-day classic is led by director and DTC Associate Artistic Director Joel Ferrell. Dreamgirls will begin with a Pay-What-You-Can performance on Friday, June 10 and will run through Sunday, July 24. Something Rotten!, the ten-time Tony Award-nominated smash hit musical comedy, will celebrate its first year on Broadway with a series of events next weekend in conjunction with the 400th anniversary of William Shakespeare's death on April 23, 1616.

The 11th installment of the BROADWAY SINGS concert series, Broadway Sings Whitney Houston, in which a cast of 15 Broadway stars sang completely new arrangements of the legendary diva's greatest hits, accompanied by a 14-piece orchestra playing original orchestrations, was held April 10 at Highline Ballroom.
