The Greenwich Village Orchestra (GVO) continues its 2018-2019 season with Orchestral Brilliance, led by Music Director Barbara Yahr, on Sunday, April 7, 2019 at 3:00pm at All Saints Church. The program features New York Philharmonic bass trombonist George Curran as soloist in Chris Brubeck's Prague Concerto; Richard Strauss's lush, romantic Suite from Der Rosenkavalier; and Debussy's impressionistic Nocturnes led by Assistant Conductor Eric Mahl.

The winners of the American Vocal Arts 2019 International Collegiate Singing ChampionshipTM have been announced! The winners have been chosen from all over the world. The competition, sponsored by American Vocal Arts, emphasizes competitive collegiate singing that spans across borders. The goal of the competition is to award the best singers from around the world who are currently enrolled or have recently graduated from an undergraduate or graduate program in music. The winners were selected based on talent, potential, and overall presentation.
The Cleveland Orchestra has announced an extension of Assistant Conductor Vinay Parameswaran's contracts. The agreement continues Parameswaran's tenure with the Orchestra for two years through the 2020-21 season. He will continue to hold the Elizabeth Ring and William Gwinn Mather Assistant Conductor Endowed Chair. A concurrent agreement extends Parameswaran's role as Music Director of the Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra through the same period.

Following last year's successful run of Ruth and The Dark Lady of the Sonnet, Pegasus Opera Company presents another outstanding opera double bill titled Shaw Goes Wilde. The productions are based on Oscar Wilde's The Nightingale and The Rose and George Bernard Shaw's The Music Cure. In the second concert of its 51st season, New Amsterdam Singers (NAS) will perform Brahms's popular Zigeunerlieder (Gypsy Songs), along with choral works by Haydn, Mendelssohn, Wolf, and recent pieces by contemporary American composers Carol Barnett and Robert S. Cohen. The concert will take place Friday, March 8, 2019, at 8:00 p.m., at Broadway Presbyterian Church, Broadway at 114th Street.

Internationally-acclaimed violinist Tai Murray joins Michael Repper and the New York Youth Symphony Orchestra in their 56th season McCrindle Concert at Carnegie Hall on Sunday, March 10, 2019 at 2PM in a performance of Korngold's Violin Concerto. Ms. Murray is a former BBC young generation artist, member of the Marlboro Festival and of Lincoln Center's Chamber Music Society, and has previously performed with orchestras such as Chicago Symphony, Atlanta Symphony, and BBC Symphony Orchestra. The New York Youth Symphony's March 10th program will also include Dvo k's New World Symphony No. 9 in E minor, Coleridge-Taylor's Ballade in A minor, and the world premiere of First Music commission Electric Agitation Fanfare by Theo Chandler.
Singer/conductor Barbara Hannigan makes her New York conducting debut with the Juilliard Orchestra in works by Strauss, Haydn, Debussy, Sibelius, and Bartok on Friday, February 8, 2019, at 7:30pm in Alice Tully Hall. The program features Strauss' "Salome's Dance" from Salome, Op. 54; Haydn's Symphony No. 96 in D Major, Hob. I:96, ("The Miracle"); Debussy's Syrinx (flute soloist to be announced); Sibelius' Luonnatar, Op. 70, with Juilliard soprano Meghan Kasanders; and Bartok's Suite from The Miraculous Mandarin. Hannigan made her debut as a conductor in 2011 at the Chatelet in Paris with Stravinsky's Renard; the soprano has been dividing her time between singing and conducting ever since.
On Wednesday, January 30 at 7 pm, in partnership with the Princeton Public Library, Princeton Symphony Orchestra (PSO) presents “Epic Interpretations” a talk given by PSO Assistant Conductor Nell Flanders. Ms. Flanders discusses Beethoven's Fifth Symphony and other works, the musical interpretations of which can elicit intense emotional responses in critics and audiences alike. There will be a brief question and answer period following the presentation.

Benjamin Appl was mentored by one of the greatest singers of the twentieth century, Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, and records exclusively for Sony Classical. His U.S. tour follows his second Sony album featuring the music of J.S. Bach, which was released in September 2018.
Cape Cod Chamber Orchestra (CCCO), the region's newest professional orchestra, announces the launch of a Composer-In-Residence program, now accepting applications for its 2019-20 season. Los Angeles Children's Chorus (LACC), one of the world's leading children's choirs, celebrates the holidays with its annual Winter Concert, entitled "Winter Wonderland: Sounds of the Season," which marks the first stand-alone program led by the Chorus' new Artistic Director, Fernando Malvar-Ruiz, on two consecutive Sundays, December 9 and 16, 2018, at 7:30 pm, at Pasadena Presbyterian Church. Music Director Michael Repper and the New York Youth Symphony Orchestra will open their 56th season on Sunday, December 2, 2018, 2:00 pm at Carnegie Hall. The program features guitarist Jiji performing the world premiere of light, beloved, a landmark electric and classical guitar concerto composed by First Music award winner Natalie Dietterich. The piece is the first guitar concerto by a woman composer to be performed in Stern Auditorium, Perelman Stage at Carnegie Hall, marking the 35th Anniversary of the NYYS First Music commissioning program. The performance further exemplifies the NYYS mission to diversify the music community by creating unique opportunities for young musicians.
