The Penfold Theatre Company's production of CRIME AND PUNISHEMENT -- adapted by Marilyn Campbell and Curt Columbus from the novel of the same name by Dostoevsky -- was a tense night at the theatre that was unlike anything I have ever experienced.

Singer, songwriter, and GRAMMY® Award-winning producer Shooter Jennings has announced he will join legendary Guns N' Roses bassist Duff McKagan on the North American Tour in support of his forthcoming solo album Tenderness. Jennings, who produced the album, and his band will serve as both direct support and McKagan's backing band on the tour, which kicks off on May 30, 2019 in Philadelphia, PA and wraps on June 16, 2019  in Seattle, WA. Tickets for all shows are available starting today HERE. Prior to the tour, McKagan and Jennings will deliver a special performance at GRAMMY® Museum in Los Angeles, CA on April 4, 2019.

The Marsh San Francisco adds four free performances of Brian Copeland's The Waiting Period,due to ongoing support from a GoFundMe campaign and generous corporate contributions from The Handlery Hotel Union Square in San Francisco, and Fremont Bank and OSIsoft in San Leandro.

This Spring marks the start of the 36th season of the Verdi Chorus, who will present their Spring Concert, L'Amore e la Vita (Love and Life) for two performances only at the First United Methodist Church in Santa Monica on April 6 and 7. Led by Founding Artistic Director Anne Marie Ketchum, the Verdi Chorus is the only choral group in Southern California that focuses primarily on the dramatic and diverse music for opera chorus. This program, which Ketchum humorously calls the Rom-Com of opera, will feature selections from two Verdi operas I vespri siciliani and Ernani, three Donizetti operas - Don Pasquale, La fille du r giment and L'elisir d'amore, as well as operatic sequences from Bizet's Les p cheurs de perles (The Pearl Fishers), Delibes' Lakm , and Puccini's La rondine.

Spinning Tree Theatre concludes season eight April 4-20 with Billy Elliot. With book and lyrics by Lee Hall and music by Elton John, Billy Elliot won ten 2009 Tony Awards including Best Musical and Best Book of a Musical. Billy Elliot will also mark the company's final production at Just Off Broadway Theatre before moving to Johnson County Arts and Heritage Center for the 2019-20 season.

Lakewood Theatre Company will begin its 67th season with six productions on its Mainstage and three productions on its Side Door stage beginning July 12, 2019.  

The sounds infusing the lobby of the Kravis Center's Cohen Pavilion on March 16 were voices from a bygone era, those that filled the airwaves when radio reigned and families gathered 'round to listen to all kinds of programs - not just music but mysteries, comedies, adventure stories, and police procedurals.

Contra Costa Civic Theatre (CCCT) today announced the cast for its upcoming production of All the Way, directed by CCCT Artistic Director Marilyn Langbehn. Pulitzer Prize winner Robert Schenkkan's "action-packed, thoroughly gripping…jaw-dropping political drama" (Variety) about the first year of Lyndon Johnson's presidency plays April 12 through May 5 at CCCT. The Bronx Museum of the Arts is pleased to announce that Kasseem “Swizz Beatz” Dean, TK Wonder, and Larry Ossei-Mensah have been added to the program lineup for the 2019 Bronx Gala. The evening will be emceed by MOCAD senior curator and Bronx native Larry Ossei-Mensah, and will feature an intimate dinner, an art auction, and two special performances by musician and social activist TK Wonder, who has opened for Sting, Justice, and Erykah Badu, among others. The 2019 Bronx Gala will take place on Monday, April 8 at Capitale.

Fawn James (director of Soho Estates) today announced the launch of the Boulevard Theatre in the heart of Soho in Walker's Court. The revived venue is located on the site where her grandfather Paul Raymond opened the original Boulevard Theatre.

Birmingham Repertory Theatre has announced that Sean Foley will become the theatre's new Artistic Director, Amit Sharma will be Deputy Artistic Director, and Rachael Thomas will become Executive Director.

The award-winning, autobiographical comedy MY LIFE ON A DIET, starring Academy Award-nominated and Emmy Award-winning writer and actress Renee Taylor ("The Nanny"), kicks off a national tour this weekend with three performances at The Gateway, Performing Arts Center of Suffolk County (215 South Country Road, Bellport, NY 11713) on Friday, March 15 at 8pm and Saturday, March 16 at 3pm & 8pm.  The tour continues with a limited run at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts' Lovelace Studio Theater (9390 N. Santa Monica Blvd., Beverly Hills, CA 90210) from Friday, April 5 through Sunday, April 14.
