8MM Releases New EP HEART-SHAPED HELL

Seven years since the critically-hailed Between the Devil And Two Black Hearts (their last studio release), Los Angeles-based 8MM returns to the forefront of the orchestral alternative scene with their stellar new EP HEART-SHAPED HELL, which is out now and can be streamed here. When talking about the new EP PureGrainAudio noted, '[Heart-Shaped Hell] is helping to establish both Sean and Juliette as one of the most experimental and diversely gifted musical duos that pushes the boundaries of the many sub-genres that their music covers.' To help celebrate the release, 8MM will be playing an EP release show February 27 at Los Angeles' Soundcheck Live at Lucky Strike. You can RVSP for the show here.

Court Theatre, under the continuing leadership of Marilyn F. Vitale Artistic Director Charles Newell and Executive Director Angel Ysaguirre, announces its 65th season. The company's 2019/20 season will feature the ninth play in August Wilson's American Century Cycle, King Hedley II, directed by Resident Artist Ron OJ Parson; the launch of Court's Oedipus Trilogy with the Sophocles classic Oedipus Rex, directed by Charles Newell; Agatha Christie's The Mousetrap, directed by Sean Graney; Henrik Ibsen's The Lady from the Sea, directed by Shana Cooper; and The Gospel at Colonus, a reimagining of the story of Oedipus, conceived by Lee Breuer with music by Bob Telson, directed by Charles Newell.

Miller Theatre Presents A Composer Portrait Of TYSHAWN SOREY

Miller Theatre at Columbia University School of the Arts presents a Composer Portrait of TYSHAWN SOREY. New music superstars ICE and JACK Quartet perform recent works by Sorey including a world premiere commissioned by Miller Theatre. Sorey also guests as conductor and percussionist. Bill Kenwright's 'Dazzling' (Sunday Telegraph) production of the international smash hit musical Blood Brothers continues its 2019 Spring tour welcoming three new cast members Alexander Patmore, Joel Benedict and Paula Tappenden into the roles of Mickey, Eddie and Mrs Lyons respectively. They will join actress Linzi Hateley who leads the cast in the seminal role of Mrs Johnstone at Bournemouth Pavilion on 26 February 2019.

After being discovered by Vinton Freedley as a singer at Brooklyn's Paramount movie theatre, she was signed to star in the Gershwin's new Broadway hit GIRL CRAZY where she stopped the show nightly with her performance of 'I Got Rhythm'.

Marilyn Maye to Honor Nat King Cole in March

Marvelous Marilyn Maye, at the peak of a miraculous career at 90, returns to Minneapolis for the first time since 2010 for a four-show major engagement at the lakeside supper club Crooners in March.  Maye, a practitioner without peer of a classic American nightclub style that Crooners audiences are embracing, plays the club's newly refurbished, 200-seat Crooners MainStage in back-to-back early and late shows (5:30pm and 8pm), on Saturday and Sunday March 23 and 24.  Joining her for this four-show weekend stand will be her New York music director Tedd Firth on piano, leading a trio with locals Gary Raynor on bass (a Maye vet) and David Schmalenberger on drums.

Lillias White Returns to The Green Room 42 Tonight

THE GREEN ROOM 42 - Broadway's newest intimate concert venue - will celebrate its second birthday with the return of Tony Award winner Lillias Whitewith a Valentine's Day show tonight, Thursday, February 14 at 7:00 PM. White opened the room on Valentine's Day in 2017 and returned last year for the club's special first anniversary. With music direction by Alvin Hough, Jr. (The Color Purple and Once On This Island) and direction by Will Nunziata (Our Guy, Cy and Kander & Ebb's The Act), the evening will explore the power of self-love through soul, sass, and song.
