For nearly 15 years, Go Comedy! Improv Theater has been a cornerstone of improv and sketch comedy in metro Detroit. From impacting the lives of more than 1,000 students in Go U! The Improv Academy to being the home of hundreds of improvisers, Go Comedy! has positively influenced Metro Detroit and beyond.

The Detroit Women of Comedy Festival (DWCF) will be returning for the third year to shine a light on female-identifying comedic performers and creators from Detroit and beyond. Partnering once again with Planet Ant Theatre in Hamtramck, the four-day festival will feature over 150 performers across four stages from the realms of stand-up, sketch, improv, podcasts, and storytelling.

The CBS Television Network announced today that it has rewarded all five series from its top-rated freshman class with new production orders.

Top names in sketch and improvisational will converge on Ferndale August 7-10 in the ninth annual Detroit Improv Festival. Headlined by Paul F. Tompkins, The 313, Flying Chuck, and more, this year's festival will take place over four venues in Ferndale and Hamtramck. With more than 60 improv troupes from across the US and Canada performing in more than 20 shows, there will be something for everyone.

New casting announcements have been made for the CBS multi-camera comedy pilot Bob Hearts Abishola, according to Deadline. Folake Olowofoyeky has been cast in the title role opposite Billy Gardell. Christine Ebersole, Maribeth Monroe, Shola Adewusi, Barry Shabaka Henley, and Matt Jones round out the family for the series, created by Chuck Lorre, Eddie Gorodetsky and Al Higgins, who have teamed with The Daily Show contributor Gina Yashere.

Planet Ant Theatre celebrates their twenty-fifth birthday with a $25,000 fundraising goal, happening now through December 18, 2018. The funds raised will go directly toward the day-to-day upkeep and maintenance of their venues, supporting the creative pursuits of hundreds, if not thousands of local artists year-round.
