The Bay Area's Signature Womxn Focused Improv Gathering Celebrates Fifth Year.

Leela's Femprovisor Fest returns to celebrate its fifth year of bringing the female voice of improv and creativity to the Bay Area for a week of performances, workshops and celebration.

Tickets for the festival are available now through Eventbrite. Femprovisor Fest runs April 26, 27 & 28 for two shows (7:30pm & 9:30pm) and Open Jam on Sunday, April 29 (2 pm) at the Exit Theater (Main Stage) in downtown San Francisco.

Conceived in 2013 by Leela's Co-Founder and Artistic Director, Jill Eickmann, Femprovisor Fest showcases diverse female-identified improv ensembles, solo performers and sketch groups in the San Francisco Bay Area and throughout the US. Past performers include Laura Hall (Whose Line is it Anyway?), Tara DeFrancisco (CHI/Columbus), Jamie Moyer (modern Family, Two Broke Girls) Maribeth Monroe (Workaholics, Keeping up with the Joneses), Susan Messing (CHI).

"This is an important time for womxn as their voices are rising and impacting the world like never before," stated Jill Eickmann. "The Femprovisor Festival seeks to showcase the many diverse voices of womxn through all aspects of improvised performance. What's so beautiful about the art form of improvisation is it always brings together community through authentic connection- something our city and country is craving right now."

Joining the festival this year are improv troupes from as far away as Mumbai, India, Minneapolis, Chicago and more. We also will be honoring super team, Virgin Daiquiri (IO Chicago) for their 10 years of bringing the Funny and the Female to the improv stage. Some of the strongest female improvisers populate this celebrated team, including alums Aidy Bryant and Cecily Strong of Saturday Night Live and many more...

Featured Femprovisor Fest 2018 Performers include: Colleen Doyle (Shrink, Fresh off The Boat), Jahnavi Dave (Improv Mumbai), Hannah Wydeven (Fair Play Improv, MN), Rebecca Stockley (BATS Improv).

More about Sister District Project

Since launching in the wake of the 2016 elections, the Sister District Project has grown to over 25,000 volunteers across the country. Our volunteers raised more than $350,000 in small-dollar cash donations directly for our candidates in 2017, plus another $350,000 in partnership with allied organizations. We made over 81,000 phone calls, wrote 40,000 postcards, knocked on 30,000 doors, and sent 185,000 text messages.

We're developing partnerships on the national and local levels with Indivisible, Swing Left, Flippable, One Vote at a Time, Adopt-a-State, MarchOn, Together We Will, Solidarity Sundays, along with countless other progressive organizations and local groups.

We're also proud to be an organization founded and led by women, including women of color. Four out of five of us quit our jobs to be with Sister District full time.
