The critically acclaimed Shakespeare's Globe production of Farinelli and the King, starring three-time Tony Award-winner (Twelfth Night, Jerusalem, Boeing-Boeing) and Academy Award-winner (Bridge of Spies) Mark Rylance, opens tonight, December 17, 2017 at Broadway's Belasco Theatre (111 West 44th Street). Roundabout Theatre Company has announced the seventh annual Roundabout Underground Reading Series, a five-night event that includes nightly readings of new works written and directed by emerging artists, as well as post-show receptions. Nominations for THE GOLDEN GLOBES were announced today, Monday, Dec. 11. Winners in 25 categories - 14 in film and 11 in television - are voted on by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.

Ensemble's Pemberley boasts an attractive set, beautiful costumes, and a talented cast who maintain a smooth, frothy sugarplum taste throughout. But with so little at stake for over two hours and a concerning level of emphasis on a woman's place Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberley seems too long and too late for audiences looking for theatre with teeth.

Under Ryan Rilette's excellent direction, a uniformly marvelous cast gives one of the best ensemble performances I've seen this season of a very strong play.
