Marin Theatre Company, in association with Lorraine Hansberry Theatre, will stage August Wilson's Fences, the 1950s entry into his Century Cycle (also known as his Pittsburgh Cycle) - a decade-by-decade exploration of the black experience in 20th century America. Directed by Derrick Sanders, the Pulitzer Prize and two-time Tony Award-winning play will feature veteran film and television actor Carl Lumbly as Troy Maxson, Steven Anthony Jones, the artistic director of Lorraine Hansberry Theatre, as Jim Bono and award-winning actor, playwright and director Margo Hall as Rose, as well as Oregon Shakespeare Festival's Eddy Ray Jackson as Cory, Adrian Roberts as Gabriel,Tyee Tilghman as Lyons and two Marin City youths - Jade Sweeney, who attends Willow Creek Academy, and Makaelah Bashir, Bayside Martin Luther King, Jr. Academy - splitting the role of Raynell. Marin Theatre Company Extends FENCES Through 5/11

Marin Theatre Company, in association with Lorraine Hansberry Theatre, announced today that, due to brisk ticket sales, MTC has extended August Wilson's Fences by eight performances. Directed by Derrick Sanders and featuring actors Carl Lumbly, Steven Anthony Jones and Margo Hall, the production will run for 36 performances, from April 10 through May 11.

Marin Theatre Company, in association with Lorraine Hansberry Theatre, announces the casting of its spring production of August Wilson's Fences, directed by Derrick Sanders. Fences, which won the 1987 Pulitzer Prize and 1987 and 2010 Tony Awards, will feature veteran film and television actor Carl Lumbly as Troy Maxson, Steven Anthony Jones, the artistic director of Lorraine Hansberry Theatre, as Jim Bono and award-winning actor, playwright and director Margo Hall as Rose, as well as Oregon Shakespeare Festival's Eddy Ray Jackson as Cory, Adrian Roberts as Gabriel and Tyee Tilghman as Lyons. MTC's production of Fences will run from April 10 through May 4.

California Shakespeare Theater Presents A WINTER'S TALE, Now thru 10/20

California Shakespeare Theater has announced it will conclude its 2013 season with one of Shakespeare's rarely-performed gems, A Winter's Tale. Directed by Patricia McGregor and choreographed by Paloma McGregor, the sister team responsible for last season's critical and popular hit, Spunk, A Winter's Tale plays at the Bruns Amphitheater from tonight, September 25 through October 20.

'One Great Party' Brings in a Record-Breaking $580K to Support Cal Shakes' Work Onstage, in Classrooms, and in Communities

San Francisco's elegant Ritz-Carlton Hotel, its ballroom transformed into a vision of nature saturated with vibrant, electric colors, provided the dramatic setting for California Shakespeare Theater's 18th annual gala, One Great Party, on Saturday, March 16, 2013. Led by Gala Chair Jean Simpson, and Honorary Co-Chairs Ann and Gordon Getty and Helen and John Meyer, the event was the most successful in Cal Shakes history, grossing more than $580,000 and welcoming 400 attendees.

Cal Shakes Announces AMERICAN NIGHT: THE BALLAD OF JUAN JOSE Cast

California Shakespeare Theater today announced the cast of its season-opening production, American Night: The Ballad of Juan Jose, by Richard Montoya and developed by Culture Clash and Jo Bonney. Helmed by Cal Shakes Artistic Director Jonathan Moscone, the production will run at the Bruns Amphitheater from May 29 through June 23. The 2010 world premiere of American Night: The Ballad of Juan Jose at Oregon Shakespeare Festival was the first show in the company's history to be extended due to popular demand; the New York Times deemed the play (In its recent Yale Rep production), "a lovable hodgepodge of references, historical and pop-cultural, with a deadly serious message at its heart."

San Francisco Playhouse's THE MOTHERF**KER WITH THE HAT Adds Matinee, 2/17

San Francisco Playhouse Bill English, Artistic Director and Susi Damilano, Producing Director start the new year off with a bang. Continuing the company's Tenth Season, now in their new venue at 450 Post Street, San Francisco Playhouse presents the West Coast premiere of the the raucous comedy,The Motherf**ker with the Hat, directed by Bill English. The show has added a matinee performance this Sunday, February 17 at 2 p.m.

Kaufman and Hart's ONCE IN A LIFETIME Opens At A.C.T.

The American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) 2011-12 season opens with a new revival of the dazzling George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart 1930 comedy Once in a Lifetime, which has been called 'a delicious Hollywood send up' (The New York Times) and 'a tinseltown satire [with] bite' (Newsday).
