Celia Berk will be performing LOVE IS JUST SAND at The Beach Cafe on February 3rd, 2018 at 8:15pm. The 2017 recipient of the BroadwayWorld Cabaret Award for Best Female Vocalist, Celia Berk is reuniting with fellow BroadwayWorld Winners Musical Director Alex Rybeck and Director Jeff Harnar for this show. Celia has released two critically acclaimed albums, garnered awards for her two solo cabaret shows at the Metropolitan Room, and made memorable appearances at Carnegie Hall, Jazz at Lincoln Center and The Town Hall. The Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra (HK Phil) will present romantic love songs from classic movies this Valentine's Day, 14 February 2018 (Wed), 8PM, in the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Concert Hall, including: Gone with the Wind: Tara's Theme Lyrics were later added to the theme by Mack David and became the song My Own True Love, sung by Margaret Whiting and widely known since its release in October 1948.

The longest active career in entertainment history has come to an end. Rose Marie, Star of Broadway, Film and TV (The Dick Van Dyke Show / The Doris Day Show / Hollywood Squares) has passed at the age of 94.

Tuesday, November 21st, will be 'Eddie Cantor Day' at the historic 13th Street Repertory Theater (50 W. 13th St., NYC), where Chip Deffaa's show 'Irving Berlin: In Person' is now playing. For 50 years, entertainer Eddie Cantor and songwriter Irving Berlin were friends. Berlin provided Cantor with some of his biggest hits, from 'Mandy' to 'You'd Be Surprised.' Cantor was singing Berlin songs (such as 'Araby') in vaudeville even before he rose to stardom in the Ziegfeld Follies (for which Berlin was a major songwriter). And Cantor continued to sing Berlin songs in films, on radio, and on TV. In 'Irving Berlin: In Person,' Jon Peterson (portraying Berlin) speaks of Berlin and sings/dances 'Mandy.'

Klea Blackhurst the host of the concluding night of The 28th New York Cabaret Convention likes to remind folks that all roads lead to Ethel Merman . Last night's talent filled finale offered up some of the best vocalists in cabaret and all roads started and ended with Klea & Billy Stritch recreating some of their classic interpretations of the music of Hoagy Carmichael & Richard Whiting.

WAIT FOR YOUR LAUGH tells the story of the longest active career in entertainment, but it also looks at what it was like to be a female performer in the 20th century (and yes, she has opinions on the casting couch mentality), to work through periods of extreme personal heartbreak and it also casts an eye on how Rose Marie and her fellow nonagenarians Dick Van Dyke, Carl Reiner and Peter Marshall, still have the drive to create today.

The last week of October is packed with entertaining fun at Dino's Backstage and The Celebrity Room. Wednesday, October 25th is Bob Egan's Singer's Showcase, Thursday, October 26th is the Divas Of Broadway, Friday, October 27 features the talented vocalist, drummer, arranger and composer, Paul Jost, and Saturday, October 28 celebrates Halloween spirit at the Silver Screen Halloween Party hosted by Michael Richard Kelly with The Tom Adams Trio. Costumes invited on October 28th guests can come as their favorite actor/actress, or favorite movie role character to win the costume contest!

The Mabel Mercer Foundation has announced that it will implement a special 'Rush' ticket policy for their 2017 Cabaret Convention, to be held at Frederick P. Rose Hall, Jazz at Lincoln Center, from Monday through Thursday, October 16th - 19th.

The film is called, 'WAIT FOR YOUR LAUGH' and is directed by Jason Wise and produced by Christina Wise, Jason Wise, and co-produced by Jackson Myers. To get right to the point, the documentary is utterly fantastic. But the 33 minutes and 42 seconds I spent on phone with Rose Marie will be forever unforgettable.

Harvey Granat is a cabaret performer, Broadway producer and historian of the American popular song. Will Friedwald is a critic, music historian and author of eight books, including the upcoming The Great Jazz and Pop Vocal Albums (Pantheon Books, October 24).

Rachel York (Victor/Victoria, City of Angels) and Julia Murney (Wicked, Lennon) will star as battling twins Nora and Laura Blake in an industry presentation of the Femme Noir thriller, The Betrayal of Nora Blake, a murder-mystery musical by John Meyer (Heartbreaker).

With its unique combination of the best of past and present popular song, the annual Cabaret Convention stands as a pivotal, highly-anticipated highlight of New York City's autumn music season.

Sidney J. Burgoyne performed Just A Little Bit More at The Iridium (www.theiridium.com) on April 11. Just A Little Bit More is a musical marathon featuring Burgoyne with the words and music of Stephen Sondheim, Noel Coward, Richard Rodgers, Oscar Hammerstein, Thornton Wilder, Anthony Newley, Leslie Bricusse, Ronald Harwood, Jerry Herman, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Billy Wilder, Arthur Schwartz and Dorothy Fields, as his co-stars.
