Car Talk, written by Elaine Alexander and directed by Della Freedman was chosen as a finalist for the Manhattan Repertory Theatre's One-Act Playwriting Contest. It is a short one-act comedy that depicts the story of an accountant who goes car shopping with his status seeking fiancee on an expedition to find the perfect car for her, which leads him on the quest to find his true self.

After an acclaimed Off-Broadway engagement, THE BRIGHTNESS OF HEAVEN, a new play by best-selling author Laura Pedersen, directed by Ludovica Villar-Hauser, will soon be presented in regional productions, and will start the new year with two presentations at the Association of Performing Arts Presenters (APAP) on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at the Hilton NY Midtown (1335 Avenue of the Americas) in the Regents Parlor (scheduled for 4:40 PM and 11:25 PM). Now in it's sixth season, The Fire This Time Festival will welcome seven new playwrights into the family, January 19-February 8 at The Kraine Theater (85 East 4th Street between 2nd Avenue and Bowery). Aziza Barnes (me Aunt Jemima and the nailgun, published by Button Poetry Press), Rod Gailes OBC (COLORS: Dream Of the MASTA), Julienne L. Hairston (Ababuo in Project Y's Racey Play Reading Festival), Daaimah Mubashshir (Video Clare with Manhattan Repertory Theatre), Azure D. Osborne-Lee (member of EMERGENYC and Rising Circle Theater Collective's INKtank), Larry Powell (Dreams of a Prophet) and James Anthony Tyler (Some Old Black Man starring Arthur French at La MaMa). These playwrights will present an evening of ten-minute plays, each inspired by one of Alex Harsley's original photographs. More of Harsley's pieces will be featured at the TFTT festival kick-off event this fall, in which he and the playwrights will be introduced to the Horse Trade Theater Group and 4th Street Arts Block community.
EMMY Award-Winner Bruce Vilanch stars in a staged reading of RUBBLE, a new comedy by 4 time EMMY Award-Winning 'The Simpsons' writer, Mike Reiss at The Provincetown Theater. The two young playwrights compare and analyze their choices thus far, attempting to answer life's most important questions before one of them has an emotional breakdown.
Grimm Women by Brandon Monokian will be presented at the West End Cabaret Theatre tonight, May 23rd at 9:30pm and tomorrow, May 24th at 8:00pm. The show will be directed by Megan Greener, and will star Daria Feneis ('Concussion'), Ashley Biel (The Orange Person), Andrew Pace, Caitlin Gutches, and Hannah J. Rolfes.
Paul and Carl, two twentysomething roommates, hold a party to bid farewell to each other and their shared apartment. The year has been kind to Paul, who is moving into his own place; less so to Carl, who is moving back upstate with his parents. Then there is Tamar, facing her first party as a divorced, newly single woman. Awkwardness ensues, along with party hijinks including alien spaceman sounds, airborne paper plates and a special Guest DJ Hour. Through alternating humor and pathos, The Party Play explores the impact the recession has had on the attitudes, ambitions and relationships of young urban adults.
