Lark Play Development Center has announced that seven plays have been chosen for its 21st Annual Playwrights' Week, which will take place September 22nd - 27th. This year's plays and playwrights are Parachute Men by Mando Alvarado, Lucky Ladies by Dominic Finocchiaro, INC. by Diana Grisanti, No More Sad Things by Hansol Jung, Girl of Glass by Jennifer A. Kokai, Chalk by Walt McGough, and The Tiger Among Us by Lauren Yee.

Second Stage Theatre (Carole Rothman, Artistic Director) continues the 2014 Uptown Series (Chris Burney, Associate Artistic Director and 2ST Uptown Curator) with the New York premiere of MALA HIERBA, written by Tanya Saracho (HBO's 'Looking' and 'Girls') and directed by Jerry Ruiz. MALA HIERBA will feature ROBERTA COLINDREZ, SANDRA MARQUEZ, MARTA MILANS, and ANA NOGUEIRA. Previews begin Monday, July 14th and opening night is Monday, July 28th.

On Monday, May 19th, Lone Star Theatre Co will present a staged reading of THE CAPITOL PLAYS, five plays inspired by Wendy Davis and the crazy day and night she spent defending women's rights in Austin, TX. The plays -- by Raquel Almazan, Mando Alvarado, David Davila and Lindsay Hicks -- depict different events (true or fictional) that could all take place at the Texas Capitol.
