Come Halloween, all San Francisco will see - and hear -- how the West was sung when the City's only professional musical theatre company, 42nd Street Moon (www.42ndstreetmoon.org) continues its 2009 / 2010 season with the classic western musical Destry Rides Again starring beloved local chanteuse Connie Champagne as 'Frenchy', the enticing dance hall girl made famous by Marlene Dietrich in the film version.

Blue Hill Troupe, Ltd., the only musical theater group in New York City to donate its net proceeds to charity, kicks off its travel-themed 86th season with BRIGADOON, October 30 through November 7, 2009 at the Theatre at St. Clement's. The Blue Hill Troupe produces a musical every fall and a Gilbert & Sullivan operetta every spring, and has donated over $3 million to local charities since its inception in 1924.

Diverse City Theater Company, Penguin Rep Theatre and Shotgun Productions will reveal the truth behind the Santa-gate scandal in SANTA CLAUS IS COMING OUT, a new comedy written by and starring Jeffrey Solomon, directed by acclaimed director Joe Brancato. Cloris Leachman confirmed this morning on ABC's The View that she did indeed get the offer to reprise her film role of Frau Blucher for the Broadway production of Young Frankenstein.

According to The New York Post's PAGE SIX, Mel Brooks might have changed his 'tune' when it comes to Cloris Leachman reprising her film role of Frau Blucher in his Broadway production of Young Frankenstein. Last year, Mel Brooks, creator and producer of the Broadway musical comedy, told Leachman that, at 81, she was too old for the role of Frau Blucher (the character she originated in his 1974 movie). Despite a stellar audition, Brooks was concerned that Leachman didn't have the 'stamina' for eight shows a week reports the Post.

Angelo Parra's The Devil's Music: The Life and Blues of Bessie Smith will be performed at the New Brunswick Playhouse, running March 3?29. Miche Braden, who portrayed Bessie Smith in the previous productions of the play, will recreate the title role once more.
