The Catastrophic Theatre is proud to produce Fefu and Her Friends, a signature work of feminist theatre by a giant of the avant-garde, Maria Irene Fornes, directed by Julia Oppenheim Traber. Over the years, The Catastrophic Theatre (and its predecessor Infernal Bridegroom Productions) have produced Fornes's The Danube and MUD, to much critical acclaim. Fefu and Her Friends runs February 14 a?" March 8 at the Midtown Arts and Theatre Center Houston (MATCH).

In 2018, the U.S. Supreme Court handed a narrow victory to a Christian baker from Colorado who refused for religious reasons to make a wedding cake for a gay couple. Hailing from a conservative North Carolina background, playwright Bekah Brunstetter is personally familiar with people like Della, the protagonist of THE CAKE, and ideally positioned to protect her and defend her humanity, while also setting her on a path to self-reflection and change. Although the story may be ripped from the headlines, Brunstetter tells it from the perspectives of a quartet of ordinary, yet multi-faceted characters, each of whom comes with a strong set of beliefs.

Broadway Theatre Project has announced Grammy Award-nominated singer, dancer, choreographer, and creative Carmit Bachar as a guest artist at BTP's summer 2020 intensive: BTP AT LAND AND SEA! At the project, Carmit will be sharing her knowledge of the entertainment industry with aspiring musical theatre performers.

David Mamet's new play, THE CHRISTOPHER BOY'S COMMUNION, will be staged for the first time, for a limited time only. Featuring a cast, that includes Rebecca Pidgeon, William H. Macy, Clark Gregg and recent Tony Award nominated Fionnula Flanagan, the story follows a grisly murder that has taken place in Central Park. It runs February 13 - 23, 2020 as a guest production at the Odyssey Theatre, for 10 performances only.

Richmond Triangle Players begins its second decade in its Scott's Addition venue with Bekah Brunstetter's new comedy The Cake, opening Friday February 14, 2020, at 8 pm, following two low-priced previews on Wednesday and Thursday, February 12 & 13, at 8 pm. The production, sponsored by Carreras Jewelers, will run through March 7.

SHOWTIME has announced that it has picked up an 11th and final season of its hit comedy series SHAMELESS, premiering this summer. SHAMELESS, which originally premiered in the winter of 2011, ranks as the network's no. 1 comedy, its longest-running series and has the youngest-skewing audience of any SHOWTIME series. Season 10 of SHAMELESS, which will finale on Sunday, January 26, has been averaging 5.7 million weekly viewers across platforms. The announcement was made today by Gary Levine, President of Entertainment, Showtime Networks Inc., at the Television Critics Association's Winter Press Tour.

CBS All Access has announced casting for season two of The Twilight Zone, according to Variety. Broadway and screen favorite Billy Porter has joined the cast, along with Morena Baccarin, Colman Domingo, Ethan Embry, Jenna Elfman, Tavi Gevinson, Tony Hale, Abbie Hern, Gillian Jacobs, Sophia Macy, Joel McHale, Chris Meloni, Jimmi Simpson and Daniel Sunjata.

Aurora Theatre Company presents the return special limited engagement TELL TALE HEARTS: An Evening of Hip Hop Theatre Featuring Carlos Aguirre and The Bay Area Theatre Cypher, three evenings of hip hop theatre and spoken word. Carlos Aguirre and The Bay Area Theatre Cypher return to Aurora following sold-out shows last December.

Leslie Odom, Jr. is set to play singer Sam Cooke in Regina King's directorial debut One Night In Miami, according to Deadline. The film also stars Kingsley Ben-Adir as civil rights activist Malcolm X, Eli Goree as Cassius Clay right before he became Muhammad Ali, Aldis Hodge   as gridiron great Jim Brown. 

On Her Shoulders is pleased to present a staged reading of Sappho of Lesbos by Estelle Anna Lewis, directed by Lynn Marie Macy on Wednesday, January 22, 2020. Doors open at 6:45pm for a 7:00pm start with The Play in Context by Emily Rainbow Davis, who situates the script in its historical time and place, followed by the reading and a post-performance Q&A with refreshments. Buffalo Theatre Ensemble presents 'The Cake' by Bekah Brunstetter, directed by Steve Scott, Jan.30-March 1 in the Playhouse Theatre at the McAninch Arts Center, 425 Fawell Blvd. The LA Times calls the play 'funny and smart' and observes, 'The Cake' explores human conflict from an insightful, slightly offbeat perch with understanding, respect and compassion for opposing points of view.' There will be a preview performance 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan 30; press opening is 8 p.m., Friday, Jan. 31. Performances run through March 1.
